The Sims 4 Style Influencer Career
Rewards for Stylists and Trend Setters
Want to be a Stylist or Trendsetter? The Sims 4's Style Influencer Career is free for all players.
Included in the November 2018 Patch along with Terrain Tools and First Person, The Style Influencer Career is free for all Sims 4 players. The Stylist Career is a nice addition that is challenging while being very rewarding financially. Some players will enjoy making over poorly dressed and ugly Sims to give them a new look. You'll also unlock a few neat abilities that let you make trends or publish fashion articles for money (and fame if you have Get Famous).
How to: Style Influencer Career Cheats Press Control + Shift + C then type testingcheats on and press enter. You can now get promotions with careers.promote styleinfluencer - you can also see all Career Cheats or visit a full list of Cheats in The Sims 4.
Getting Started
Want to be a Stylist or Trendsetter? The Sims 4's Style Influencer Career is free for all players.
Join the Career like any other - using the phone or press 'J' and Join a Career. This is a Work from Home career, and will give you tasks when you choose to stay home. Completing the tasks will reward your Sim at the next shift. Despite its steep skill requirements for upper levels, being able to do the work from home tasks then work on skilling will allow you to rank up at a respectable pace.
Learn to play a Stylist in The Sims 4. Includes information on completing daily tasks, skills involved in the career, and how to start fashion trends.
Career Objects
The Style Board is used in daily tasks. You can also build it up then use find muse to get a positive moodlet of several types. Both branches get the mirror pictured here.
Style Influencers get a digital sketch pad early on, which can be used to satisfy painting skill requirements, as well as a camera for photography. This skill made me realize that early in 2018 the developers had changed Photography from a Get to Work skill to one available in the Base Game. When you join the career, you also get a style board which is involved in daily tasks.
Explore My Mods! Color Picker for Builders, Seasons Tuner, Dine Out Reloaded and a Gameplay Overhaul! Like other modders, I've been working to make The Sims 4 a better game. Check out my many mods here!
Want to be a Stylist or Trendsetter? The Sims 4's Style Influencer Career is free for all players.
The sketch pad is portable and can be used to create paintings much like an easel. It simply has some new interactions for the career, and a new illustrative painting category. Prints of completed paintings will appear in your Sim's inventory, where they can be dragged to a wall to be displayed or sold directly.
Style Influencers get a computer at rank 4 that is very nice (one of the higher end base game models) and can use computers to blog about fashion (writing articles, recording style guides). Blogging may be a work from home task, while the style guides are available for Get Famous players to gain fame at any time.
Publishing Fashion Articles for Career Performance
At around level 4 in this career, you can use the 'Careers' menu on a computer to write fashion articles, then publish them. These actually give career performance even when off the clock. If it's a failure you will lose some, but it is very much in your favor as a good piece gives you 50 while a bad one is -30, with it being more likely the article is accepted if your Sim is good at writing and in a good mood.
About Gather Impressions Players may struggle with the 'Gather Impressions' Daily Task. In order to do this, you use the phone to Photograph Impression. You'll get a moodlet for this and the task will be at 50%. From there you use the white style board that you get early in the career (found in the family inventory) to place the impression on it. This will remove the moodlet, allowing you to photograph impressions a second time. Until you've placed the first impression, you cannot get progress toward this task a second time which is the cause for confusion.
About the Take Photos Daily Task Sigh. In this case, you may attempt to take a photo with the camera you're given via the career. However, this doesn't count. You need to use the phone, which is... not intuitive at all.

Early Levels
Nearly all the rewards for Style Influencer come in the first five levels. It would seem there's nothing unique here, though the rewards (both financial and tangible) are great for an early Sim. A $4,000 PC and sketch pad both providing means of making money while bonuses can help you fill out the office with decor. Fantastic.

Trend Setter Branch
Daily Task: Gather Impressions There is a current bug with Gather Impressions where you cannot get it past 50% progress. This is due to the moodlet (4 hours, inspired) that appears when you do a sketch. Wait until this wears off then do another impression on the sketch pad.
High level Stylists and Trend Setters can create trends, making it more likely random Sims will wear those outfits. You can make up to five for both feminine and masculine.
At level 7 for Trend Setter and 10 for Stylist, you can click your Sim to create masculine or feminine trends. Click the little plus sign in the top right to add an additional trend. When you have an outfit trending other Sims may appear in public, wearing the outfit that you designed. This can help a lot to make ugly townies a little less ugly. You can make up to five each for male/female. When you initially click the plus sign, it adds another and you can also delete them. Click the numbers to switch between trends. This does not seem to interact with the Seasons expansion in any way as far as I can tell.
We now have a Youtube Channel with over 50 guides in video format to go along with the huge site I've already created. Check it out and consider subscribing if you like my style.

It could unlock at a later stage of the career then your sim is currently in. But look under the 'Career Tab' on your sims PC and the options 'Fashion Blog, Write Style Column, Find A Job and Quit Job' should be there.
Hi! I don't know if you figured out by now, but I was just struggling with the same thing and wanted to help. A column and an are the same thing. Just submit an article, and the task will be marked as done! :)
As the guide says just below the heading: Trend Setter Branch... "Daily Task: Gather Impressions There is a current bug with Gather Impressions where you cannot get it past 50% progress. This is due to the moodlet (4 hours, inspired) that appears when you do a sketch. Wait until this wears off then do another impression on the sketch pad."
When the time for work arrives chose to stay home. Then just complete whatever the task is on your sims Work Information Panel. To Seek Muse: This is an interaction on the Impression Board. If your sim needs the Style Impression buff then click on the Digitalistic Sketchpad and do the 'Quick Sketch Impression'. This will give your sim the Inspired Style Impression buff/moodlet. Now your sim will be able to seek muse on the board.
There are Clothes unlocked by this career that are not mentioned in the guide. The same items are unlocked by both branches of the career but at different levels. Trendsetters get a new Necklace and matching Bracelet at lvl6 but Stylist don't get them until lvl7. At lvl7 Trendsetters get new Gloves that Stylist wont until lvl8. Lvl8 has new Shoes, a Hat and another Necklace that Stylist get at lvl9. There are two new pairs of Pants one for men and one for women at lvl9 and there is a men's Jacket at lvl10 for Trendsetters. Stylist get the Jacket and both Pants at lvl10
I just did this too...umm, from memory you have photos in your sims inventory which you take by using a camera. Then click on a PC and choose upload media.
Haven't played this career in nearly a year so just going off the previous comments in this tree it looks like you need photos in your sims inventory and then use a PC interaction
This is an interaction on the Impression Board. If your sim needs the Style Impression buff then click on the Digitalistic Sketchpad and do the 'Quick Sketch Impression'. This will give your sim the Inspired Style Impression buff/moodlet. Now your sim will be able to seek muse on the board.
It should appear easily but many people are reporting this as bugged too. Apparently it is 'supposed' to work at the community lots that came with the Get Famous expansion pack despite it being a free addition to the Base Game. idk, this interaction only works for me in Base Game locations. Others have reported that 'interviewing' a sim fulfills the requirement, or asking to see an outfit. Link to the bug thread if you want to report this to EA: EA Bug Forum. This was all supposed to be fixed in Patch 1.48.90 so if you are still having issues in an unmodded and cc free new game then it needs to be reported.
I’m having the exact same problem! I’m best friends with someone and interacting with them like crazy and the option won’t come up! Even on ‘Friendly...’
Just thought I'd let you guys know that the initial income for the first stage of the career (Rag Reviewer) is actually 18 simoleons per hour, rather than 19. I'm using this career for the 100 baby challenge since the rules say I can work from home, and the Stylist career earns me the most per week when working from home! Thank you so much for the guide!
Ok, how do I get the option to check in at a venue? I've traveled there, looked at he phone which just gives me the option to update my social media status or add to simstagram. What am I missing?

You should be able to click on your sim and see the option 'Create Trends". This will take you into CAS with a mannequin which you dress. Later you should see sims walking around wearing the outfit you designed.
I was also having a problem with the "Seek Muse" task. You need to have the "Trending Style-board", which becomes available when you start the stylist career - apparently After placing this board, "add impression" (from all those times you had to 'assess impression'), then you will be able to "seek muse". This task does not require any buffs be active - just this board Hope this helps all of us Muse-challenged people!
hi, need a little help to complete a daily task, if not bugged. my sims is style influencer and need to "go to gym or park to see clothing/dress", i have the sim at gym, but not understandig what social or action is to complete. tryed ask, interview, model clothes but nothing. any can help?
I haven't had this request so I'm just throwing out a guess. Have you tried asking another sim to change into athletic wear, formal wear etc? Or have you tried 'discuss outfit', or given another sim a make-over? All while being in a park or gym? I'd try a base game park and then the gym or park that came with Get Famous if you have that pack. I think the location isn't as important here as finding the correct interaction. We need mouse-over hints for this career, so much of it is guess work!
aye you right, the task is misleading for ask to "check in" but no option is on phone. And worse some task like this don't have clue when you point the mouse on it. Hope EA correct this for is a good career to play (i like to create outfit, so that show up randomly when travel). Some player on some forum site have finded is more simple if the sim go to the lot with a good friend, for more friendly they are and lesser social action you need to complete the task.
I have a daily task that asks for my sim to update their social media status. I've searched for the option on the phone and computer and can't find it. Is this a glitch?
Read the last paragraph on this guide under the heading "Making Trends" as Carl explains how to make a 'trend' there. Your sim needs to be at level 7 for Trend Setter and 10 for Stylist before the option appears. Best to make the 'trend' something that you would not normally see on a sim, like a silly costume etc, as that way when you do see NPCs sims around your world it will be easy to see if your 'trend' is actually working. And you're not the only person to struggle with this career, it is not very intuitive and the lack off mouse-over tips just adds to the frustration of not knowing what you should be doing tbh.
I made my sim start a trend and I created 5 outfits (for both feminine and masculine.) However, No one is wearing any of the outfits that were made. I don't know what to do...
There's nothing much you can do as this part of the career is a little buggy. You could try making the outfits something ridiculous like a costume as that way it would be easy to spot and to see if it is actually working.
Try again in a Base Game Museum or the Museum that specifically came with Get Famous. For some reason in some games only one type will work and not the other.
Can you delete completely the feminine or masculine trend you have done, cause I cant delete the last trend, and sims ending wearing it very often... I wish we were able to cancel the trend so that everyone wear their normal clothes.
There is no easy way to do this unless you download and install Sims4 Studio. The bug report is here (click) and on page 2 of the Report LittleMsSam has posted step on using Sims4 Studio to get rid of unwanted Trends. Remember to make a backup save before trying to fix this bug.
Another way to get around this issue (sort of) is to make new Trends so you don't get bored with looking at the original one you made. But this is a bug and ultimately needs a developers fix, I guess they forgot to add a timer/countdown to any Trends made by the player.
I think perhaps the career has been patched since this was written since (according to the game files) the hourly rate is a few simoleons lower for every level.

A Deeper Game
The past month, I've spent every day tinkering The Sims 4, making quality of life improvements, gameplay changes, and new difficulty settings for the game. If you'd like to learn more about my project, visit the post on Patreon where you can download it now.
I have much more to come, since you can actually write a few guides about this pack!
Calling all Blender Users
Blender has been incredibly useful in video production, so I made my own Physics and Simulation Improvement Addon that lumps a ton of unique tools into one compact interface.
Sims 4 Snowy Escape
The Sims 4 Snowy Escape launches November 13, 2020 and my coverage has started. Until I get my review ready, you can learn about the following:
There is a new platform tool in The Sims 4. There's also a new Sentiments system, but it'll take some time to create a guide to that. Players can also use rental lots in any world now by changing lot types of builds in manage worlds.
Best Mods in Sims 4
I've created a massive List of The Best Mods in The Sims 4 that should be very helpful to new players and those who have not yet explored modding and how much it can do for your gameplay.
Readers who use adblock or those who'd like to thank me for my efforts can now pledge $1/$5 monthly via Patreon. This helps a lot with server costs and provides some stability for my business.
I now have a guide page to Tiny Living Stuff where you can learn about Murphy Beds, the new death, as well as the lot bonuses you'll receive if you manage to keep the size of your lot down with this new pack's Tiny Home Lot Type.
Let's Play Playlist
New I now have a guide to Making Super Sims in The Sims 4. Look for a text version within the next 72h. It won't have THAT much more info but it will help out as a checklist.
This was inspired by a series, "Let's Play a Super Sim" in which I start at toddler and gradually take on the major bonuses. Here's a link to each part for people who are interested. You can also see the Let's Play as a Playlist on Youtube.
The Sims 4 Discover University has been announced for November 15 for PC/Mac and December 17 for Xbox and Playstation 4 consoles. Click to learn more about the pack, see my summary of the livestream or read our FAQs below.

I don’t know if it’s the new update but it’s now called Trending Style-Board. Hope that helps.
Oh my goodness! After all these years it is still a problem. I’m playing sims in 2021 as a trend setter and i still cant check in to the venues.
ugh, very frustrating!

Hi,
My sim was asked to check in from a museum. I was not successful in doing so. I tried my phone w/ no luck.
