The Traits you choose will help to determine the Whims your Sim gets. If you choose Family Oriented, you'll get more Whims for interacting with your Family. With Mean or Evil, you may have Whims to behave rudely to other Sims. Sims with Ambitious may get bit Whims for getting Promoted. A Sim will also get Whims based on what they've done recently - so if you go to level a certain Skill, you'll start getting Whims for that Skill. Being affected by certain Emotions also plays a role - if a Sim is tense, they may want to vent to another Sim.

I have issues getting some of the traits to work but it works at times.

I think there's a bug with the maker trait I had a sim get a negative moodlet from using the woodworking station. And I had a sim fail on using the fabrication station as well honestly I think I might have had more failures with this trait than without it when trying to use the fabrication station.

With the cheats, given here, i can't add the personality traits. I tried nummerous times in all cheats variations but it does not work. I wanted to add the Foodie trait but no luck. I managed to add the trait before sept 3th but not since then. Has EA changed something in the cheats again? BTW All other except the personality traits work with the cheat.
Just tested adding the Foodie trait in my game and it worked fine. Did you remove a trait to make room to add another trait? Maybe you made a typo?

Where is the High Maintenance trait? I came here to get some tips on how to play with it (since it seems to give constant negative moodlets) and didn't see it listed.
Vegetarian trait don't need the city living expansion anymore, it's on base game already
I hope that you update this, as it's quite useful. Insane should be changed to Erratic at the very least. I'd love to see comments on newer traits like Loyal, as well.
