Dynasties and Challenge Rules to Give Your Game Direction

Gameplay Challenges for The Sims 4
Try a Challenge like our Baby Boomer, Rug Rats, or Immortal Dynasty to give your gameplay direction and try out strategies!

Our Forum's Challenge Team have created rule sets for an unofficial Challenge Tournament for nearly a decade now. Players compete against one another to see who can score the highest. While these events are now closed, they are great rule sets to bring to your game. See how you can compare to some of the best players in the world and have fun doing it.

A Little Backstory

We have run an annual Challenge Tournament since 2010, where the Challenge Team led by Metropolis Man makes up rules for players to follow and post scores based on the honor system with proof or questions of strategy only required in cases where a player may have broken a rule or submitted an impossible score. These rule sets were lovingly crafted to give players a friendly competition. Our 2019 Tournament is in full swing right now, and you're Invited to Join. Follow the link to the overview, then check out the Tournament Schedule

Our site is also host to the Immortal Dynasty challenge which has been around since the Sims 3 days. These multi-generational challenges are much more involved, and take many Sim lifetimes to complete. However you can check off the requirements and enjoy a playthrough that requires some thought and planning. So let's start with the Dynasties then move on to the Challenge events that were held for the tournaments from 2015-2018.

Credit goes to those people who have been on the challenge team now and in the past. They are: Metropolis Man, LenaLJ, MarianT, sdhoey, Trip. Past members included Nutella, Ricalynn, and ratchie. Metro has been around since the founding of our forum and initially contacted me in 2009 about making Sims 3 Challenges. He's carried on into the Sims 4 era and helped a lot of people to have a bit more fun with their games.

The Sims 4 Dynasty Challenges

Dynasty Challenges are somewhat similar to Pinstar's Legacy Challenge in that they are multi-generational, but with a twist. There can be themes to them, and the goals differ for each event. If you want a challenge that takes several Sim lifetimes to complete, with a growing family, the keys to immortality, and huge wealth, then there is likely a Dynasty challenge you will enjoy. The team only releases one of these per year. They're special and a lot of time is devoted to playtesting them and looking for loopholes that may make it far too easy. Sensible rules take time, and several people had input on the majority of these.

If you complete a Dynasty we invite you to submit your entry to the Sims 4 Dynasty Hall of Fame where you can detail your strategies. Completing a regular challenge (listed after the Dynasties) is a personal experience and scores will not be taken but you can still compare. For Dynasties you will sometimes find helpful spreadsheets to help you to keep track of things, so pay attention when reading those posts.

Gameplay Challenges:

Shorter Rules and Focused Gameplay Goals

It is important to note that general challenge rules existed at the time of posting for all of these challenges. You will find them linked in the rules for each of the challenges listed below. They evolved over time. A challenge in 2015 will not take into consideration anything game-breaking released in Seasons or Get Famous, for example, because they did not exist at the time. Consider keeping the spirit of these rules if objects have similar functions. They may make the challenge too easy - but you're Playing the Challenge for FUN, so choose what will work for your own personal satisfaction. The competition is over, after all.
