Original storyline The Sims sequence
« on: May 04, 2010, 07:18:42 AM »
Hi fellow simmers,

I have a question for probably the older players along us who are playing sims games since the release of the Sims back in the year 2000. You've probably noticed that when the newer games arives some familys that lived in the previous game are also living in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3. Although, if you take a closer look at them, you will notice that the people in the familys can be the same as in an older or newer version of The Sims but in another age period.
I've read here and there that one of the games was placed 50 years before the other and the other than 10 or 20 years ahead of yet another one. And that doens't have to be in the order from The Sims 1, 2 and 3 but can be random (otherwise, I didn't have to post this of course).
This confuses me. Does anyone ever have taken a closer look to this? I don't ask this to just ask something, because I am planning a story for The Sims for where I need this information and I haven't find any trustable source yet myself.

Thanks in advance!

It's 3, 1 ,2. E.g: Mortimer Goth is an adult man in the Sims 1, an elder in Sims 2 and a child in Sims 3.
His wife Bella is an adult in the Sims 1, abducted by aliens in Sims 2 and a child in Sims 3.
Their daughter Cassandra is a child in the Sims 1, an adult in Sims 2 and is not born yet in the Sims 3.

Of course you have the single Broke girl in sims 2 and there was a generation in sims1 and now the Brokes are in sims3, but Brandi has not been born yet in Sims3.  It is confusing, but if you look in their family tree it takes you back quite a ways to see who their parents are.  Like the Simiviches, Goth, Newbie, check their family tree and you will recongnize names from the other two sims games.  Hard to explain, lol.

I will. Thanks. It will be like writing an history book of the sims itself. If someone's interested and I will have the time to do all those stuff I could make a topic of it, maybe called: 'The Sims history lessons' or so.
Any moderator who gives me permison on it? And a place please where I actually can post that, because I don't know where to under share it.

In fact when I got the sims3, I made a Brandi, because I was going to recreate the scenerio from the sims2.  She had two boys and was pregnant and supposedly her husband had either left town or something, but his name was Skip Broke (I think, could be wrong, but it was a Broke that is still in the sims3) and he is a child in sims3, so I finally got it to the point of Brandi and this Broke kid to teenagers, maybe she remembered him, haha, but could not get them past friends, they would kiss and all that would come up was, Brandi thought he was ok, no flirty, no alluring, nothing.  Even as adults she did not like him romantically.  I thought that was interesting, so I experimented on another sim and she fell for him immediatly.  Maybe they do have a memory, lol or so that is what it seemed like anyway.  I guess in the game we can think what we want or let our imagination go wild.

In answer to your question though, that would be a good idea, there are some first time simmers on here that might be interested in the history of some of the sims in the game that go back to sims1.

There's a Sims wikia with a list of all of the Sims families that have appeared in the Sims games; although the list on that site includes the console games as well as the 'original' PC/Mac games. I was reading through it before and apparently there's a discrepancy with the different versions of Malcolm Landgraab, and a little discussion whether the Don Lothario in Riverview is actually the same Don Lothario from The Sims 2 because his bio suggests that he travelled through time to Riverview's era; whereas other reappearing Sims in Riverview and Sunset Valley are all different ages or have yet to be born in their families. :)

True, but in order to do all that stuff, I have to rebuild Sunset Valley 2 times, I'm afraid. I wonder if I will find the time for that. :S

There are two slightly different versions of Malcolm Landgraab's family tree, but the same Malcolm is never in the same Sims game. They're all different, the argue lies in who's who among their ancestors.

And Don Lothario is the same as in Sims 2. According to the normal story line, Don Lothario had one of his womanising parties, but mysteriously disappeared the moment he stepped out on the balcony. This took him back in time and to Riverview. Therefore, when for everybody else the timeline has been reset (Bella is not missing), Don Lothario is the only one whose timeline actually continues from Sims 2.
