Has anyone ever started a household with zero simoleons?

I'm moving a lone Sim into Twinbrook. She's going to live in a house, but I'm going to use the "familyfunds" cheat to put her money at zero and see how I can play.

Has anyone ever tried that before? How'd you do?

I have. Within a few sim weeks, my sim reached a prosperous amount of roughly 55 thousand Simoleons. A few, as in like 7.

I've done it but without living in a house.  Spent lots of time at the fire station and gym.  LOL  There are lots of ways to get money.  I spent much time at the junk yard and searching for gems and rocks.  It was kind of fun actually.  As others said in no time you do quite well.

It is so easy to make money in the Sims. If you are starting in a house you won't have to worry about buying anything and even food comes free if you use the quick meal option from the fridge.
Even if you don't have a house you just move into the firestation for a while.

I once played a game exactly as you described by starting off at $0 but she didn't have a house and I didn't let her sleep at the firestation or gym. I placed a park bench on her lot and that was it. She survived by harvesting plants from gardens and community lots to eat and washing up in public restrooms. I wanted to see how long I could keep her poor for. The poor woman never got a job,married or had any children.

I've read that story and loved it. It's a fantastic one!

The Alice and Kev story was my inspiration. Although my idea was that she was at one with nature and living off the land rather then being a copy of Kev.

I don't see how that would work. Everything you buy is instant, so credit's out.

You know, if money was as easy in real life as it is in The Sims, poverty and debt would be a fairytale!

It was. If you got into debt, it was hard to get out, but not impossible.
