Military Career
« on: April 08, 2012, 02:09:20 AM »
Hi everyone!
I was wondering about making a new family with the dad working in the Military career. Only problem is, is that I haven't made any of my sims work in the military.
So, all I wanted to know is your thoughts or opinions on this career, and is it worth it in the long run? Thanks!  :)

DS Ben Jones: I appreciated your trust over the Masons thing.
DCI Tom Barnaby: Trust, Jones, is something hard to win, easy to lose, and never to be taken lightly.
Jones: William Shakespeare, sir?
Barnaby: No! Thomas Barnaby.

Welcome to our Forum, Katie.

The Military is a very good career to pursue.  Athletic and Handiness are the skills required and level 10 Astronauts only have to work one day a week.  They start with a salary around $300 per hour at that level, so even one day is a good bit of money.  It's a very long day, though.  7:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.  If you haven't already read it, Carl's Military guide will give you some great information.

If you are a coin a career challenge with trying to max it ASAP it's not best choice. Not many days of work lol. I learned that the hard way.

True, it takes some time to max, but my Lollipop Dreamweaver did it pretty quickly.  It wasn't long after she aged to Adult.  Plus, she's part of my Townie DecaDynasty and she had a lot of stuff going on.

Sportsfan, you know you don't actually have to be at work to get a promotion.you can ask your boss for a promotion out of work hours. I think the scmoozer trait comes in handy here.

Has asking your boss for a promotion ever worked for you? And is there a chance of getting fired or demoted when asking your boss for a promotion?

I have been sucessful at asking for and getting a promotion from my boss. I have no idea what the chances are of getting said promotion you need to have a good relationship with your boss. I am pretty sure you cannot get demoted by asking for a promotion the worst that can happens is they say no and your job metric stays the same.
The only time I can recall getting demoted was when my Sims job performance was not up to scratch.

I only just discovered that this career was enjoyable. I really like playing it and I feel very rewarded when I do for some reason.

Yeah, that's sort of the same for me! Also, there pay is quite high comparing to other careers at specific levels.

I just started playing a character with the military career today, and I am having so much fun with it I'm afraid that's all I did today! But my soldier is at level 9 of the military career and he makes a nice bit of money with few hours. It's a great choice for a "dad" or husband sim. Not to leave the females out of course, it's just that this is the first male sim I've created myself and he has the family-oriented trait.

Yes, the military career is fun!  :P
And I agree, it does make an awesome dad/ husband/ family member to have.
Is it by any chance of you telling me how much § (sorry, but I have found the symbol!) the military guy makes per hour? Thanks!  :D
(To do this symbol: §. You need to press option and 6, but maybe thats only on mac... sorry for going off topic)

Its useful if you have a large family. You get a lot of money for little hours. And if you have little sims to look after theres more suitable times to do it with this career!

Hi katie123urgreat!
Sorry it took me a while to get back to you; I've been without wifi for a day. I will check on my military sim and his wages and get back to you.
