Sim babies and toddlers aging up in in middle of the night?
« on: April 06, 2012, 04:30:45 PM »
It's not exactly the middle of the night but still.
My couple has a child and he up an aged up on them; received the notice that he was going to age up, did I want to have a party and I accept.  That night, around 2 am, he goes and ages up.  They are asleep!

Then, from toddler to child the same thing happen, but it was around 6 am.

Then, he goes from child to teen, and I am asked to select a trait and then it doesn't show up on his list of traits.   I have a cake for him and he goes to bed and I can't get him to blow out the candles.  I had kept clicking on the bed and then tell him to get up (did the "go here" by the table), and the bed would just pop right back up and he wouldn't get up.

Goofed and clicked on mom and she ages up.  It was just a day earlier for her, but still.
Later, when he gets up, I am thinking that maybe because he didn't blow out the candles was the reason why the chosen trait wasn't showing up. So, I put another cake on the table, he blows them out and he ages up again!  He was given the trait of veggie eater; no meat ! ! !

I was aggervated by then so exited without saving.

What gives, are you supposed to have a party right then and there?  I changed the age to allow them to have longer for each stage, could that be the cause?

No, it shouldn't cause problems like this.  My sims have very long age stages.  My sims usually age around 8.30 pm (on average).  I don't bother about cakes or parties.  I have had one who slept through the night and aged up the next morning but that was unusual.  It sounds like your family might be a bit buggy.  Do you have any mods in your game?  If not perhaps if you move your family to a new house or even out of their house and back into it again, it might fix the problem.

If I recall correctly, Sims age up based on when they were born. So your Sim - was he born at about 2AM (in game time)?

Interesting.  I have never seen that in my game.  Sims always age around the same time 8-9pm no matter what hour they were born.  Still, I haven't played without mods for a very long time so maybe it is Mr Twallan making my experience nice and neat.  ;D

I've always had sims age up between 8-10 PM of the day that their age bar hits 0 days to age up.

Janna one thing I will tell you - if you get them to go to a birthday cake they will always age up so if they age up without you wanting them to, sell the cake or else you'll just push them another stage forward.  The reason why he was getting traits instead of you picking them is because he didn't have the grades due to his having just aged up the night before.

As for not getting a trait to show up - that's a common glitch where sometimes the game doesn't register that you chose a trait.  It's easily fixable with a quick cheat.

I  had to check to see what mod meant, I know not moderator,  good for me to look it up, helped me to refresh on what means what.
No, I have never made any changes to the game.  Bought it, installed it and later on installed WA.  Then finally got around to signing in and getting Riverview.

When I exited out without saving at least it will fix where I accidenlty aged him up to YA.

As for time of birth, it was around 2:00 but it was PM (game time).  George was at work, he gets off at 3  and I just clicked on him to get him home before he got off work.

totally off topic of this, but when she went to have the baby, she took the truck and left George standing; he had to get a cab to go to the hospital.  As he arrived, she passed him and got into a cab to return home.  He takes a cab home and I thought the truck was lost, couldn't find it.  Someone suggested I check the inventory, I had but not the family one.  For some reason it was put there.
I should have left it there instead; I put it back in the driveway and the next night a thief stole it.  He stopped at the front door, turned and went to the truck.  By the time I realized what he was doing, he had put it into a bag and left.
The nerve of him, to steal a truck that belonged to a police officer, LOL

Corrected for errors
