Building Contests 2012: 7 - Ambitious Designs

You must read the Rules and Instructions Thread first, if you haven't already. Updates have been made.

Your Task:
We all know that the world of architecture is full of ambitious people. The creations that come from their minds take more than just an imagination to be completed. Yet again your talents are being called for by the various Towns of the Simworld, they are tired of the same designs of under-ambitious buildings. They want some new, ambitious buildings to replace the common structures of the Fire Service, the Salon and Tattoo Parlour, the Consignment Store, the Junkyard and the Laundromat. Of course they feel that one building will be enough to perk up the town whilst keeping budgets down, so fear not! You only have to pick one!

Specifications:
  • Lot Type: Community - Those with Ambitions may use the Lot Types. Those without may set it to whatever seems fitting.
  • Budget: $45,000
  • Lot Size: Any
  • Other: Your Lot should show clearly what it is designed to be. Those without Ambitions may substitute as they see fit - e.g. A Salon with Mirrors and Dressers instead of the Makeover Stand.
Optional Specifications:
  • Must be ambitious and suitable etc.

Also, feel free to request a home by PMing me! Always happy to help.

Hey guys I'm taking an extended hiatus... again. I'm out of ideas to build houses and I don't have as much fun designing homes like I used to; it feels more like a chore. So that's where I'll be, I will probably be back sometime. :P

Modernist's Fire Station

Lot Type: Community - Fire Station
Lot Size: 20 x 20
Price: Furnished: $44,756
         Unfurnished: $27,171
Content: All EPs, including Showtime. All SPs. No Store Content.

Open for Comments when the time comes.

Description: Named for the sculpture (Modernist's Flame) by Christopher Wong, this fire station is ready to spring into action! With an easy to navigate layout, our firefighters will be to your rescue before you can say Modernist's Fire Station 100 times fast!

Seriously...I really dislike a few of the fire stations, especially the one in Sunset Valley. The pathing does not make sense to me. When this contest popped up, I was really excited. It gave me the final nudge I needed to tear down the old fire station and make a better one. I have tested this fire station, and I did not find any pathing issues, although I cannot guarantee that an issue won't come up. That is the nature of the Sims!

The Modernist's Fire Station has curb appeal! You can even see a couple of the sculptures the station is named for out front. The truck was left mostly wall free.

There is easy access to maintain the truck, as demonstrated by my Trophy Challenge contender, Will BeA Champ. You can't see it here, but the truck has flames painted on it.

There are 3 alarms located on the lot. This alarm is the easiest to get to, especially once you are already out working on the truck.

The entry way has the only fire poles. In case of an emergency, you will be out the door in no time!

The kitchen is small, but it features a hot beverage maker and island counter. Behind the kitchen is a small bathroom with a toilet that will never break!

The living room features a television and gaming system, a bookshelf, a desk with computer, and the Inventor's Work Bench.

Up the stairs is the sleeping area. It sleeps four firefighters, and has a dresser and mirror.

The bathroom is not gender specific, but features three stalls. In a small area behind the toilets, there are three seperate showers. You will not have to worry about others walking in on you while you're scrubba dubb dubbing.

There are only two doors leading outside. One is the front door, and the other is this door, which leads to a skilling area. There are three fitness machines, an easel, and a dominoes table, plus a picnic table. The gate leads to the front, allowing for quick response in an emergency.

If you are like me and enjoy the firefighter proffession, but detest the fire stations, you simply must download Modernist's Fire Station here:

Building Contest-Ambitious Designs
Name: Mismatch Treasure
Lot Type: Junkyard
Lot Size: 30 x 20
Price: $41,844
EP and SP: High End Loft, Ambitions, Fast Lane, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Master Suite, Showtime
This junkyard is full of items that are mismatched. One man's rubbish is another one's treasure. The aim of this junkyard is to increase the amount of treasure for different people. Even you.

Inside we have a small living area to watch the broken TV fade away and a dining table to discuss any new furniture you have found and now want.

A car once crashed through the fence and overtime it has been overgrown and now has lots of useless items surrounding it.

There are multiple sets of statues and furniture around the outside.

The only thing that is the same in the bathroom is the toilets. The sinks aren’t even the same.

The favourite set of objects includes two gnomes that sometimes roam around. How creepy!

The Mismatch Treasure is a junkyard that is popular amongst the crowd. Whether it’s the music player that barely works, or the stacks of junk or even the crashed car, the junkyard is perfect for any town that needs some treasure.

Can be downloaded here.

Building Contest 2012: 7 - Ambitious Designs - April 6, 2012 - April 19, 2012
    Ausette!

Congratulations again Ausette! Your laundromat was voted the most ambitious design! You can see Ausette's Entry here and download it here.

Ausette's Comment:

"Out of all the contests I built for this year, this was the one I found hardest to stay under budget for. I initially wanted to build a fire station, but when the budgeted version didn't meet my standards I had to go back to the drawing board and pick a new venue. I ended up building a little laundromat for Sunset Valley, because, well, I like laundromats and Sunset Valley. I have no idea where the idea to put the paintings out the front came from, but once I'd built that exterior I just knew I had to enter it. Thank you to everyone who voted, and congratulations to all the other fantastic builders! I loved every single entry in this contest, particularly the two runners-up!"

Congratulations Ausette! The thread is now open for comments!  :D
