My Sim wears a toupee!
« on: May 02, 2010, 04:16:14 PM »
In the category of strange and silly trivia ...

My Sim that I am testing for the HouseHunters Challenge takes his hair off when he has a bath or shower.  If I am lining up things for him to do after the bath, the picture that comes up (maybe there's a name for that, I don't know it) shows him with a bald pate and a little hair at the sides - quite different from his normal hair.  All other times he has his regular hairdo.  It appears he takes his hairpiece off in the bath so it won't get wet.  It's quite funny. I've never seen it before, but this is a new hairdo I bought with my simpoints - I guess whoever designed it must have a bizarre sense of humour.  Now the whole Simming world knows that FootLoose Wanderer wears a rug!

I've taken the pictures but I've never posted pictures before so give me time to figure out how to do it.  This will likely take some time ...

Ah, that I can help you with.
When you type a new post, or post reply, take a note at the text in blue right above the white screen you are typing in. It say's: 'Add image to post.' Clicking on that will provide you with another screen (which can take a few seconds) where you could choose if you will upload an image file and if you want it to resize. Or not.
I've do that once before and that was today (in the funny pics topic thing), but for some reason my picture stay's small, even though the real size of it is big and I had resize it in the screen to 1600 x 1200 (my screen).

Succes! With any questions, you can post on this post.

I had a sim with one of the new hairstyles from HELS. His hair was short but every time he got in the shower he had long hair with a ponytail. It was just a minor annoyance, but when he aged up from YA to adult he switched to the ponytail. I had to find a mirror to change back to his original hair.

I suspect that every new hairstyle (from downloads or expansion packs) is linked to one of the original hairstyles. If I were to uninstall HELS his hair would obviously have to revert back to one of the original styles. That's probably the hair he had when he was in the shower.

Leto85, I appreciate the help.  However, you are dealing with the technologically challenged here.  I can't figure out how to select my screen shot picture.  I think the problem is, I just don't know where to look for it in the options that come up.  Can you advise?

When you take a picture when you are playing the sims, it is saved in the launcher, when you go to start your game, there are options on the left, if you click on uploads, you will see the pictures you have taken of your sims. Wait for it to load, put a check on the first picture and then click on open file.  You will have thumbnails at the bottom and when you click on a picture, it will give you the bigger size.  I just drag the small thumbnail to my desktop.  Just click on the picture you want and hold down left button on mouse and drag it to desktop, there will be a number below the pic.  The rest is exactly what Leto said.  After you click on "add image" you will click on browse and then click desktop, find the picture, resize it and then click upload, you should see an url code and that is the pic, when you hit the post buttom, should post the picture.  I have never actually described this before, so I hope I didn't leave anything out.  I finally learned not to long ago, right before I started my post on pics sims have painted, now I don't quit, lol.

              Caption
FootLoose:  Hey, what are you doing with that camera?  You can't take a picture of me without my hair!  Don't you know that's grounds for divorce?

FancyFree:  Don't talk to me about divorce, you liar.  Why didn't you tell me you were bald before the wedding?!

                 Caption

FootLoose:  (thinking) Darn, I wish FancyFree had never got that new camera.  Now, if she'd only go away so I can start chatting up that little French girl.

Yay, it worked!  Thanks Leto85 and Saltypaws!  The pictures are a little small - next time I'll try another size.  Thanks again for the excellent instructions.

Mine are small too, but when you click on it, it makes it bigger, so that is not a problem.  Btw, your welcome.  I am glad it made sense, lol.

With postimage, the pictures come out a little small in the forum, but as said you can enlarge them by clicking on them so it's really just a win in terms of space taken up on the forum.

Now to the question: Some hairstyles are bound to specific clothings as you can change in CAS. A few can also not even be designated for a couple of clothing types (i.e. swimsuits, pyjamas etc.). So, if this is a custom hairstyle it may be possible that it's excluded from the "bath-haircuts", but that's just my hypothesis.

It doesn't happen very often, but I have had a few hairstyles that changed when they took a bath or shower and I had not selected it.  I just ignore it, but it can be annoying at times or just weird to say the least.

thanks for the explanation.  I prefer to think he's just taking off his hairpiece to keep it from getting wet.  ;D

Yes, unfortunately using the in-house image hosting posts a thumbnail of the picture and you have to click it to view the full size.  Another way to load screenshots to the Forum is to follow the instructions for using Photobucket.  This will give you the full size image in the post, which is my personal preference.
