The Ultimate Man
« on: May 01, 2010, 03:50:42 PM »
For a change of pace, I've decided to make a Sim whose goal is to reach level 10 in every skill, and complete every skill challenge.  I don't know if this has ever been an official challenge somewhere, if so I'm not following any particular set of rules - just trying to have fun and accomplish my task as semi-quickly as possible :)

Without further ado, allow me to introduce The Ultimate Man: Ernie Reynolds!

His starting traits are Artistic, Virtuoso, Perfectionist, Ambitious and Over-Emotional.  Ernie's LTW is Golden Tongue, Golden Fingers.  I don't really have a plan of attack, but I am going to do Guitar Star first because I feel it's one of the tougher ones to complete.  After that I'll probably go through Painting and Writing before I Midlife Crisis into something else.

I moved him into the trailer home (forgot the name) because real men don't need a fancy house, just their pride.

I'll make an update as soon as I make some progress in the guitar skill!

Good luck, Tommy. And yeah, I did that concept last year. It was called the Max Skills Marathon—maxing all skills and completing all Opportunities. You might get stuck with Guitar Star if you don't know the trick. Check out this article. I'll be doing an updated version of the event sometime this year to include WA stuff.

Yeah Guitar Star was the first thing I did.  If you're updating this challenge I think I'll wait.  Doing it now would be great practice but I think it might burn me out before the updated version haha.

Awesome. It will be nice to see you hop in a challenge. Can't tell you exactly when it will be, but I'm waiting to see if there are new skills in Ambitions. I know about the 6 new careers, but I'm unsure on actual skills/opportunities.

EDIT: Hey, did you actually complete Guitar Star? I was curious because that can be quite time consuming.

Guitar Star finished on week 4, day 7.  Can we say broken??  I had plenty of money though :) upgraded everything in the trailer and was about halfway towards getting the most expensive car.  Wake up, shower, play for tips, eat apple, play for tips, pee, play for tips, eat at diner with friends, sleep, repeat.  I almost fell asleep at my keyboard lol.

He, cool idea. I was thinking of doing this myself, but then with a servo once Ambitions arrives. I am curious to the path you will follow.

But just to throw this out there: why didn't you give your sim the LTW of maxing out three skills? It would have suited your goal more, in my opinion.

Well, good luck with this. I hope you have the ability of feeding Ambrosia soon, because you will definitely need it now. ;)

The rise of a Supersim
I had never tried this out before, but for some reason I really liked the idea of making (more like training) the ultimate sim. A sim that is good in everything; has over maximised his skills, has raised himself in every job (so he unlocked some hidden skills such as sneaking and scientifically upgrading objects) and also he needs to raise the hidden skills like hacker, snake charming and table football (I thought there was a hidden skill for that too).

An example of over maximizing skills is not only reaching level 10 in cooking and having all the extra challenges done that improves the cooking even further, but also making sure the Supersim has a perfect rating for all the recepies.

So now you now what I am trying to do, my question for you is: what did I just forgot? How does a supersim look like to you? What does he need to do to make him his name worth? What traits does he have? Although the traits are constantly changing to make skilling easier, I am more asking for his final traits.

Of course I can think of this myself, but I am just curious about the opinions of other members.

[Edited for spelling, punctuation and grammar. Remember that after "do", "does", "did" etc. the following verb is in the infinitive form: "does he have", not "does he has". - Swede]

Sounds similar to what TommyT wants to do with his Ultimate Man.

That's just stupid. I've take a look at that topic and beside that this one looks indeed a lot like that from TommyT, it turns out that I have put a reaction beneath his also, which I have totally forgot. :(
Because I know that double posting isn't aloud on this forum I have to ask you: do I have to lock this topic, or can it still be open, because it is a bit different than the from TommyT?

As far as I know sculpting and inventing will be two skills. Probably there will be more, but that has yet to be confirmed. :)

I've had quite a couple of sims that have gone for this objective (think of me as a more lenient, but still completionist, Metro :)).

What this most often falls to, is to find new and inventive ways of earning that money (money-rolling is a must for these people), like having like a group of five sims or something that systematically empties the neighbourhood from people through gold-digging. In practise, these things help you build up your skills in the normal day; in that example, carisma (and often guitar). What I'm trying to say is, go economically independent as quickly as possible to fix up those skill opportunities and challenges.

What the perfect sim also must have, is eternal life from ambrosia and death flowers; you can't have him/her dying, now could you?

Letting him dying is just a waste of game hours in my opinion. Unless I decided to have the ultimate ghost, or ultimate mummy ghost. Maybe I should make a topic of that, just to be difficult. :P Just kidding.
But you are right about that, dying is indeed out of the question. ;)

If you don't want your supersim to die, just turn aging off! I only turn aging on in Riverview because I don't know alot of peeps there, so I don't care if they die. My idea of a supersim is max all skills, complete all skill challenges and reach level 10 of all careers. I still haven't managed to complete guitar star on any of my games. I know how to do it, I just don't want to only have one skill forever to complete it.

It's like it take forever to do huh? Supersim (although his name is still Pyro ironically) has mastered the guitar but that only challenge is really a pain in the butt. But he is still a teen right now. I wonder if the guitar challenge only could be completed when he is a young adult or older. Anyone knows?
