Sim clones himself (without permision)
« on: April 30, 2010, 08:47:20 AM »
So, this will be my first topic, now I finally find the buttom for it to actually start one.

My problem is as follows: the moment my sims get back from a well deserved vacation holiday one of them find himself cloned, back at home. For some reason the game saved his previous him from the moment right before they are going to leave and than I was stucked with 2 of him. I know the clone was from right before they leave, because his 'newer' him has a skill gain back in the foreign country that he hasn't had before.
My question is (and you probably see it coming): how did this happen? And in fact that one can't be answered than maybe this one: how can I prevent this from happening again?

I am also interested in people who has 'suffered' the same problem and in what situation their sims where back than, because maybe that way we can find an answer together.

For myself I was thinking of killing the clone, but actually killing by plan is one of my selfmade higher 'don'ts' in The Sims 3 that I don't like to break. So all help is welcome, as long as they are humanitarian.

You could just split household and put the new sim in the bin or delete him once he is there or move him out.  If you don't want a clone to run around town, then putting him in the bin would be your best bet.

I know at one time, I accidentally had put two sims that I made into town and when I got to looking, there were actually three, so not sure why that happened, maybe something just got hung up somewhere, I am not the most technical person, so I am sure someone else might have an answer.  Good luck

Thanks. The game has sort of that kind of bugs someday on my laptop with the family I played. Even one day my sim (it was the clone-sim's wife) could actually call and befriend one of his dead ansesters at adult age, while that person actually dies at elder age. Strange things that happens sometimes in my game.

The good thing about the game override the not so good things, like glitches, bugs or whatever, but it is worth it.

Just thinking, weird to have a bunch of cloned sims running around town. lol

I've never heard of cloned Sims!  That is so strange!  You have control of both of them?  I know you said you don't want to kill the clone and I understand because I'm the same way.  But you could enable testing cheats and then just trigger age transition of the clone a couple of times until Grim comes to get him.  If you trigger age transition on an elderly Sim, they just die of old age.  It's much more humane than intentionally drowning or dying by fire.

I played all three, two are elder and I think one has passed away.  Kinda strange seeing three of the same sim running around. I thought about aging one of them up, but I decided against it.  The only way I will get rid of a sim is by aging them up, can't seem to bring myself to killing off a sim by building a wall around someone or starving them.  They are almost real in some ways, lol.

Me, too.  I had a Sim accidently die of drowning without any walls and it really freaked me out.  I know I couldn't watch them trying to save themselves and be unable to do so because of a wall.  *shudders*  Just...  no.

OK, fire and drowning maybe isn't the most humane deaths around, but I figure electrocution could go quickly and painlessly (at least as compared to letting them wither and die by old age from multiple organ failure with cheats ;)).

As for the OP subject: No I haven't had this happen! It would be kinda cool though, having an identical twin of your sim running around. Personally I think we identical twins are too poorly represented in this game! You can create them in CAS, but all twins in-game is dizygotic! This glitch opens up a new possibility for the game! ;D

That's a good one. Thanks. Haha, he died of speedup old age. :P
Btw. I was forgotten to say that my sim doesn't clone himself anymore ones I've moved them to a cheaper house. I really like to overstate things in the Sims because the game let me do that so funny. So I've had my sims moved to a house that doesn't inferior the Updoun Court in England. But from that point, my sims start cloning himself at the moment he came back from holiday. I know my laptop had a very hard time to actually run that house (I mean the rendertime you know) and maybe that does has something to do with it. Maybe saving for a better laptop could solve some problems.
