Your Family
« on: March 31, 2012, 04:17:09 PM »
Hello everyone! I am new, and I am hoping to get my own copy of The Sims 3 next week for Xbox 360. I have been borrowing it from a friend for at least a week and I fell in love with it. But this is in the Stories and Projects forum, so I will share what I am going to do with my Sim.

Project Name: Your Family
Details: Start with your mom and dad. And have them get married and have a kid. (Remember to have your wife eat either 10 apples or 10 watermelons, depending on your gender.) That kid will be you. Name the kid your name and live your life. Make sure you get married and have/adopt a kid.
Rules:
1) NO IMMORTALITY!!
2) NO CHEATING
3) Can have pets if you have The Sims 3: Pets expansion.
4) Have fun

Other: If you are homosexual you can get married to a guy/girl and adopt a child to continue the line.  And if you are in a household with multiple siblings create the youngest of the family till it is to you. If you are the eldest do the oldest. If you are the middle do just the middle kids.

I hope you enjoy! Have fun! If you have any ideas feel free to post them.

Need more ideas for multiple siblings.

Wouldn't work for me, I'm number five out of seven. Besides, I already lived that life. I play the sims to have different challenges and things that don't jive with my real life. Though, I must admit, my sim couples resemble my husband and me in our traits. My parents?, can't understand how they were married over 50 years with nothing in common.

Ah! I did not think about multiple siblings. I am an only child with two step-brothers. And I know what you mean about parents having nothing in common. Mine divorced when I was 11...they had NOTHING in common.

Welcome to our Forum, Superbad55.

Are you posting this so that others can play it, or are you just sharing what you plan to do when you get your game?  I'm not sure you've got it on the right board, depending on your answer.  Also, if you're posting it so others can play it as a project, we have some specific things you'll need to do.  Projects by members can only be posted after approval by me and Metropolis Man.  You would need to send in the detailed final rules for our review.  If approved, you would then post the rules to the Forum and I would put a link to them in the main Projects thread.  However, if you're just sharing what you plan to do, it can probably go on the Console board and you could put an actual story on this board, if you wish.

Ok, thanks.  I'm going to move this to the General Discussion board since it's not going to actually be a story.

I have been having the sims do thinks I wish I could do but are not possible.  Except  for the doctor one; I have never wanted to be one of them.
I love to write, but know I am not good enough to be an author, draw for amusement sometimgs, but again, no where good enough to become an artist.  Love the outdoors, but do to mobility and other health problems, can never go hiking again.  I think that scavenger hunts are fun, so the gem collector works for that; I wish I could do that aspect.  I love growing my own fruits; two apple treees, peach, cherry, two pears, two papaw trees, raspberries, blackberries and getting strawberries and grapes this summer.  Yummmmy
Unfortunately, I find I don't like the gardening one, as my sim can't seem to stay out of the sprinklers, she can be so low it is ready to go red in energy or hunger and still she wants to play in the sprinklers.

My husband and I don't have a lot in common so it does make it harder in some aspects of marriage, but 32 years and still going strong, so I guess we have done pretty good.
Number of kids, two is what we have and I think that is fine.  One has given us three grandkids.  Told her if she has any more I will disown her,   :P   I can't afford it.

I want to continue my sims, keep on with them, kids, grandkids, great grandkids and on to see what happens.

I'm sort of interested in building a replica of the house I grew up in - it'd be well suited for building on TS3 - but I'm not really interested in reliving my own life.  I've already lived that one!

Since making families is my favorite thing to do in Sims 3, I have a lot of custom-made families running around the neighborhoods. I've only made one "replica" of my real life family in the Sims and that's because my family is very dysfunctional and has caused me a lot of stress (and trauma). Not really something I want to relive.

Haha, same here. :P I agree with Tuesday, I wouldn't really be interested in reliving my own life. I did make my own simself here, SimFez is floating around somewhere in the Swap Shop. :P

My simself is somewhere around Starlight Shores, probably embarrassing herself onstage.  :P

I agree with Kaye,

Some of us had a  bad enough childhood that we never want to repeat it in a sim game.  Enough said, play the way you would enjoy it.
Make a list of what sounds interesting and you can do each one over a period of time.  And you don't have to limit yourself to one family at a time, I have several going now; artist, author, artist and author, gem collector and angler, Some in Sunset and some in Riverview.

My favorite family that I've made is probably a lesbian couple that started out in Sunset Valley and now live in Hidden Springs. One is a writer and one is a painter and they're both at level 10 for their careers, but my writer is the breadwinner because she can make more money with a single book than my painter can with one of her paintings. They have a daughter now and I'm going to make her a musician (she'll be in a band).

I'd never replicate anyone in Sims. Nor myself.
