Can't See User Interface

Any possible solution will be gratefully received.

My details are as follows  :
Using mac system version 10.6.8 ~ playing with 2009 the sims3  ~ don't play on line ~ no mods or cc ~ I use no expansion or stuff packs ~ not had any previous problems.

What happened :
Opened a saved (the day before) game to continue playing it loaded no problem except missing the user interface, with the mouse I can move around town, hear music and voices, but can't play my game.

What Iv'e tried :
Quitting game and restarting the computer, All the F buttons, Y key, Tab. I use Command- Shift- Tab to minimize game so I can force quit and not over heat computer.

NB :
I have NOT tried uninstalling/reinstalling game, ever, if I tried this would I loose all current advancements in my sims life?

No, I wouldn't think uninstalling/reinstalling would do anything.  It sounds like your save has gone buggy but you could test it by opening up a new town to see if it works.

Did you send your sims travelling?

The best solution really, if you are not opposed to using mods, is to get hold of Twallan's ErrorTrap mod at NRaas.  I don't know if it can save your present game but it will prevent these sorts of things happening in the future.

If you want to continue to send your sims travelling, then either get his Traveller mod, or have lots of saves.  The travel part is very buggy.
