Sims 3 on Consoles
« on: April 29, 2010, 06:14:19 PM »
I just discovered this article at IGN which says that the Sims 3 will soon come out on video consoles. Not much is said, but apparently it will be on PS3, Wii, XBox 360 and NDS!

Sure, I've heard that previous installments on consoles have been bad, to say the least, but figuring how far this generation's consoles have come purely technically speaking, EA maybe can do something good here. At least I will be awaiting more info on the TV console versions! :)

Here's a link to another article: http://au.gamespot.com/ps3/strategy/thesims3/news.html?sid=6260185&mode=all
about the same thing. Sorry if it says the same stuff. Got the link off snootysims.
I'm not really interested in console Sims. It's so much easier to just log onto computer than set up the Xbox, and my computer is always available for me, not so the tv.

I was actually thinking about getting sims for the wii to see what it would look like on a 52 inch screen, but, I am not sure I will.  I did hook my computer up to the big screen and do sims2 for a bit, that was incredible.

I'm not any EA ranter here, it's just something I need to say: I can't talk from personal experience since I've never had a Sims game on the DS, but you may want to be cautious about buying them too fast 'cause I've heard that the previous games were pretty bad (IGN). :-\

It is of course not impossible to make a good Sims game on the NDS, but I'm still suspicious until I can read a good review of it first. Who knows, maybe EA will make this as great as the PC game? ;)

Even for the Wii, I am going to wait to at least read some reviews to see what other people think.  So far, the games I have gotten for the Wii have been really good.  Even with expansion packs, sometimes I will wait and see the reviews.....but usually get overly anxious and put it in anyway, lol.  I think no matter what format you have, pc, wii or ds, there is going to be some type of bug or glitch, some like we have on sims3 can be overlooked and move on, some problems that people have has made it where they can't play their game even.  Just hoping for the best.

I've played many versions of the game, Mobile Phone, PS2, iPod Touch, Sims Castaway, and they all pale into insignificance when compared to the PC version. The mobile phone version was particularly rubbish!

It might be that they are great games but because I've played the PC version so much that's what my expectations are, but for me I would much rather play with my PC Sims and leave it at that.

Well I don't have any of those gaming systems, so I guess I won't be tempted to buy them (thank goodness, the PC series is expensive enough). ;)  The EA article describe some of the same game play as the PC series.  Here is the link to the EA article:

I had Sims 2 on the old Xbox (Original) and let me tell you it was completely rubbish and in no way as good as the PC version, well in my opinion anyway!  :D

Your probably right, I will probably not purchase the sims3 for wii, this one keeps me busy enough.  It would be tempting though.

I bought the Sims 3 on DS a few days ago and I'll say it's pretty good. There ARE loading screens, when going into lots, such as the library, but they're only around 10 seconds long. The graphics are sweet and its just like Sims 3 PC; there's no storyline. My only pet peeve is that there isn't Create a Style, but thats okay. Other minor problems is that the ingame clock is so slow, even when it's speeded up, and the fact that the Sims sleep so less, but they're fully rested according to the mood bar. I didn't go much into sculpting faces, but you can change it in so many ways.

I like it.  :)

Edit: I haven't tried the Karma Powers yet.

I had not seen this preview.  Hmmm, only one neighborhood and I see there is alot more loading.  I think at this point, I might wait a bit and see if I can actually see the game before I buy it.  Maybe at one of the stores they will have demo's of it.  Thanks for sharing. :)

They've now put up a video review in the review I linked to. Just so you don't miss it. ;)
