Game freezes and stops working

Hi everyone, I just bought the sims 3 generations & pets expansions, and ever since I installed and downloaded them the game has been freezing in play after about 5 mins. And a message comes up saying the sims 3 has stopped working. Ive tried deleting my temp files. Please help!!!! I really want to play w the new expansions!! Thank you
