Places to go to when funds are short
« on: April 28, 2010, 10:57:52 PM »
This is a great thing for those who do legacies and have a rough start. There are two ways. This is for Sunset Valley...

Way 1-Public Places

This is an easier, yet harder way (you'll see why) to live when funds are short. Below is a list of each place to go and its uses.

Central Park There are picnic baskets laying around, so you can grab a plate. Also, during the grill-a-thon, there is plenty of food to eat and take home. Keep in mind that they do spoil, so only take a single plate.

Library-Free books! Also, you can take the toddlers here to read them books and let them explore the children area.

Beach-There isn't much to do here, but you can get a free drink and get a "sugar rush" moodlet. A nice +15. Who wouldn't be happy after a sugary drink? Also, you can fish here, then use somebody's portable fire pit to roast and eat the fish, or you can sell them.

Way 2-Building a "Hotel" in Edit Town

This is probably the easiest way to live when funds are short. Follow this step by step guide...

Step 1- Go into Edit Town mode.

Step 2-Choose an empty lot and change it into a community lot if you need to.

Step 3- NOW, build on this lot the way you please and make it work like a sims "house". Add all the needs- Fridge, good beds, etc. Make it as fancy as you like.

Riverview is a fantastic place for hobos. Lots of both community lots and private lots have large fruit plantations, for example a wonderful apple orchard in the northern part. No one can go hungry there!

Ooo, I might try that. I rarely play in Riverview but that makes me want to go searching!

What a great idea! I'll give that a try. Thanks for the tip.

Sydney,

In your hotel how did you put a stove in?

Every time I build something and then change the lot zoning the game deletes my stove!

Cheers

Pretty sure most people know this already, but the bathrooms at the gym are always a must for bath and toilet needs. :)

We can build hotels? You mean in the literal sense of the word? Something that your sim can own and invite guests in for money, or is a hotel 'just' referred to beds on a community lot?

Think of it as a community lot that can fulfill all your needs.  I have a 20-bed 'hotel' in my game, it's fun to see who ends up spending the night, especially because its a creepy abandoned asylum :)

you can sleep on community lots? Go to bed in them? Wasn't that not possible in TS2? Or am I thinking incorrectly?

Nice! And handy for the people who build neighbourhoods that are really huge. A hotel will be the ultimate place for when funds are short, because it's totally free, no matter how luxury decorated.

I don't recall about TS2 but here you can.  The only restriction being that children and teens have a curfew and eventually must return home.

Unless they are with an Adult Member of the Family...

In Sims 2 I don't recall being able to, but then I never really tried. I think you could if you owned it as a business?

You are absolutely correct.  In sims2, they could not sleep on a community lot, even if you put a bed in, you could only relax.  That is why I thought the sims3 was so neat, you can take a nap anytime or anywhere.
