Saltypaws - where do you live? Just thinking that $10 where I come from wouldn't buy 1000 simpoints (I think?).

Pally -

In the U.S., you can buy 1,000 SimPoints for US$10.00 and 2,000 SimPoints for US$20.00.  I'm sure the 4,000 points costs US$40.00 as well.  How much do you have to pay for SimPoints?

4,000 SimPoints from The Sims™ 3 Store do indeed cost $40.00 USD.

The "bundles" are time-sensitive, on and off. Sometimes they offer them (and you get a special prize or what-not), other times they don't.

If I put my language as English - Australia 1,000 points will cost me $17 AU but if I put my language as English -America I would get charged $10 US which is about $11 AU. Maybe Pally has her language set as English - Australia

Hello, Norma! (I hope I'm not being over-familiar!),

... if I put my language as English -America I would get charged $10 US which is about $11 AU.

Have you actually tried purchasing SimPoints at the English -America rate? Good-on-ya, if it have!

Hi Happytime (no, not being over familiar - I wouldn't sign my name if I wasn't comfortable with people using it) I haven't actually bought points. I just use the points I get each time I register the game EP's and stuff packs.
I just did a dry run as if I was going to buy them. Of course who knows if I could have continued with the purchase if I had wanted to. I have no idea what if any questions you have to fill in when you buy things.

Um, well when I go to buy it says 1000simpoints = $17AU. I don't think I'd be able to buy as American because I have to put my Australian postal address and postcode? I'm not sure how to change it to american english anyway, and not sure if I'd get away with it.

At the bottom left of every page it says select language. From English, you can then select a country. Mine was set as US English because when the Prius (I think it was) was released for some reason, the language had to be set to US English to be able to get it.

See, I didn't go as far as actually buying so I didn't know they would ask for postal details (seems weird though for something digital) It's not really fair that we can't buy using US dollars instead of Aussie ones.

It might be time sensitive then, because usually they announce the bundles and I have received one before when they offered it.  I allow myself so much a month and purchase points.  Might as well, I don't do anything else. lol. :)

:D haha Saltypaws, all things considered, I consider it pretty cheap entertainment, myself. I'd spend 20 USD going to the theater and seeing a movie, and my little virtual sim-thingy-ma-bobs I purchase from the Store last longer!

Norma,

I'm like Saltypaws, I usually buy 10-20 USD worth of points every two months or so. The only time I've wondered about "switching localization" was when I wasn't sure I could download the Renault Twizy (which I think is offered by the Great Britain store).

The Twizy downloaded and installed with no problems (even thought I'm a US resident, and EA's got my address on file because I use a credit card to purchase my SimPoints).

Next time I buy SimPoints I'll look closer and see if I can buy some using the AU exchange rate, or if it's even possible.

Regards,

Please move this post if I am not in the right place.
{NEW} T-Mobile Promotion  (similiar to the Dr. Pepper Promotion)
I check the Sims 3 forum daily and this evening I found out that you can receive free items daily from T-Mobile using the code getConnected.  The item shows right up in your purchase history.  Code can only be used once every 24 hours.  Not sure if this is for the USA only or not.
I just clicked on the link, entered the code, received my item in my purchase history and then downloaded the item into my game.  Presto!

Dock the DJ - stereo
Kool Kicks - tennis shoes
Retro Record Player - stereo
Dissolving Denim - jeans
Music Arsenal - object
WikiWikiWiki - tshirt
Speaker Head - tshirt

Something else from EA - an EA store link (not Sims 3 store) for buying simpoints:  http://eastore.ea.com/store/ea/search/?keywords=simpoints. It's a great alternative for people from different countries since it takes into account the exchange rate.  Also a good site to use if the store is down :)

Heya Mortgage Lady! <Hugs>

Hurray! :D This code worked like a charm for me, I got the "Dock the DJ" Stereo.

I'll be checking it as I can, most of those items are really pretty cool.

And I'm always impressed when the Interwebz works like it should: I went to the site via the link you provided here in this thread, entered the code, and viola ... without even being logged into The Sims Store it's magically in my purchase history.

Thanks very much for the link, mtglady. :D

So glad it is working for everyone.  Remember to check back every 24 hours to get something new.
I just tried it to see what the site said and I was told to check back in 6 hours and 32 minutes.  I picked up the 'Dock the DJ' last night and will get the Retro Stereo next.  Enjoy!  ;D
