No offence, but I am a little suspicious of this offer. Could be they just want your details so they can hammer you with ads or worse.
So I checked the conditions and Australia is not included anyway :(

Checked through the conditions, and neither is Sweden eligible for the contest.  :-\ Baah, but Finland is eligible! Sweden always have to be excluded from these kinds of things, it seems...
Sent in an entry anyway. Maybe you can get those SimPoints even if you're not living within their jurisdictions (here's some foolish hoping)...

@mtglady:  I appreciate that you wanted to share this with us, but I removed the link from your post because there's just no way of knowing if it's safe.  I left the EA link, so if someone really wants to pursue it, they can still do so.  Just not directly from our site.  :)

No problem Pam.  I found the information on the official Sims 3 forum then checked the NVIDA website out myself to see if I could find the offer before I posted to make sure it was legit.  I found out that NVIDA offers quite a number of contests for all types of PC games.

I had seen that also and wondered if it was legit.  Glad you checked it out.  I'm always skeptical about free stuff.

I don't see all that much problem with posting the link here, NVIDIA and its website are as official as McDonald's. Sure, they may send you ads through the mail as most companies, but that's marketing for you. NVIDIA happens to be a large multinational corporation working with graphics processing units, mobile devices, personal computers etc.; in fact, the graphics card on my laptop here is an NVIDIA GeForce.  :)
Not meaning to refute the decision to remove the link, just making you aware that the website is from an official corporation and is as harmless as posting a link to Microsoft's website.

Just because it seems to be from an official company, doesn't mean it actually is. Scam artists can create a very legitimate-looking website to convince you to take their scam. I'm not saying that this is one of those, just it pays to be careful.

Yes, you are right, but you have to remember something, you might see a link to a site, but the minute you click on it, your computer might become infected or your information may be compromised or any other number of things.  Not sure if anyone remembers the Microsoft problem they had quite a while back.  People were getting emails from microsoft, very official and they wanted all sorts of information and it was not microsoft at all.  Nvidia is a very trusted company, that is the only brand of graphics card I buy, but I will go to their site first, before I click on anything.  What seems official and actually is official are two different things.  Even the sims3 site could have third party sites that are not legit, so just be careful, they are probably fine, but I learned the hard way, not to trust any link without first finding where it actually came from.  Sorry I strayed here, but thought it was important.

It's OK. I know that you can't trust even official sites and what seems to be official sites so easily, but this contest definitely seems to be from NVIDIA's official website and officially hosted and regulated by NVIDIA itself. So I myself didn't see much more danger with visiting it than visiting the official The Sims 3 website - the risk of getting malware, spyware, viruses etc is just as high (and the risk would be higher with downloading from the Sims 3 Exchange), but of course people can't know how official it is until they check out the website (which could be dangerous) or find out through more trusted sources. I was just trying to make people aware that it IS from an official corporation, and not from some suspicious unknown and unverified company out for your private information.
Call me naive, but I do trust my Firewall/Anti-virus program to tell me whether my private information is at risk since it's rather easy to detect such attempts from websites. I believe it's rather ingrained in nearly all computers and their anti-spyware to not allow websites access to personal information without permission (correct me if I'm wrong).
Sorry, not meaning to stray here either, I'll try to stay more on the topic of Free Stuff in the Sims 3 Store. ;D Anyhow, I'm glad for all the free stuff we get from the store, but I wish they'd be giving us more stuff. And not just paintings, lamps and clothes, sometimes I'd really like some new furniture to decorate my sims' homes with! But well, you can't get everything for free. But you certainly want to!

I hoped that this conversation would just die down, but since it hasn't, please allow me to say a few things.

The only sites that I allow links to are Sims 3 sites and things like wikipedia for information.  A site that is hosting a sweepstakes is not something that I, as the Forum Manager, am comfortable linking.  Whether the company is reputable or not, whether there's a possibility for viral infection of computers, or the possibility of identity theft...  all of those things come into play.  It is for the protection of our members that I don't link to those things.  It's just not worth the risk and liability if something goes bad.  I'm just saying that we're not going to endorse things like that because of the risk to our members.  Better safe than sorry.  And I did leave the Sims 3 link for people who want to pursue the 500 SimPoints, which is their right to do so.

So, please, let's drop this discussion.  I removed the link and explained why.  No more talk about it.

Got my 500 free points today.  I'm impatient, so didn't want to wait until something I like showed up on the daily deal.  :)  Bought this and this.  Yay.

Those links just gave me the "Trouble Page".  I wish EA could maintain their site better.
Anyhow, I just got my SimPoints too!  Well, I got the code to redeem and since the store seems to be down for the moment I'll have to wait until I redeem them but yeah! So you don't have to live within their jurisdictions to get the SimPoints at least!!  :D
Hmmm, I wonder what I will buy with these points (and the 950 points I have from registering WA), I'm hoping there will be a sale soon with some really nice stuff. Heh, I guess I'm kind of frugal, want to get the best offer available.
Oooh, the store is working for me now! Great!

EDIT: Oh, the angel sculpture is really nice!  I kind of have a weak spot for angels, so maybe I'll buy that one too. Argh! Too much stuff and too little points!
