Stereos have lost sound - but still get moodlet
« on: March 24, 2012, 05:27:55 PM »
I've got the base PC game and the stereos I bought have all lost sound. (I don't have any mods and haven't used cheats - so far - lol) I'm annoyed since the music is something I really enjoy. I bought the cheap one and it worked at first. Then suddenly stopped. The animation works, and the sims still get the enjoying music moodlet (I don't, lol). I sold it for a more expensive version and that didn't work either. I sent my sim round to another sim's house and their stereo worked! Pah!

I'm not aware of what was happening when it stopped, but it happened early on in the game. I haven't put any custom music in the game. Anyway, I'm glad they still get the moodlet, but I really miss the music. This is my first PC game, I have a couple and I'm saving up so they can move (I also have the Xbox version).

I asked EA by email, and they said they couldn't help because it sounded like a gameplay issue, and I should ask in forums. I wish EA email CS was more helpful, you have to specify which game you are asking about, which makes you think they can do more than just general tech help. But I guess they have a lot to deal with. From the reply I got it certainly sounded like that. I've so far had a lot more luck with the live chat. So, like they advised, I'm asking in a forum...

It's probably because you have several stereos on in your town - you know how sims turn them on and never turn them off?  Once they are switched off you will get your sound back again.

Twallan addresses this issue in one of his mods - Overwatch, I think.

Thank you Figwit! Maybe I need to get my sim to visit her neighbours and turn their stereos off, lol.

Have you tried turning your stereo off and then back on again?  That's all it takes when mine stop making sound.

Hi, Pam.

Yes sometimes that works, sometimes I sell them and buy another one and that still doesn't do it.  And then sometimes when I get the stereos working again, the TV goes quiet! Oh well, I guess that's just something that happens in such a complex game.

The music is one of the things I really love about the game. I haven't added any custom music, not quite sure how to do that.
