Sims Unable to Spar
« on: April 27, 2010, 05:16:20 PM »
My household of 3 sims went to Shang Simla and learned Sim Fu. The first day they sparred fine and gained a couple of levels in Sim Fu, but after that I could not get them to spar with each other, or anyone else.

I have all the latest patches.

Anyone else with this problem? Any ideas how to solve it? Thanks.

If your sims have a need that is low or in the red then they won't spar.  Same is true if they have the fatigued moodlet.  If you hover over they greyed out "spar" button then it might tell you what's preventing that action.

If none of these things apply then it's probably a bug of some kind.

Thanks for the reply. It must be a bug because the spar option does not even appear in the radial menu.

Pregnancy will also prevent sparring.

Another thing, the spar option will only appear if the other Sim has the martial arts skill.

I have noticed that occasionally my Sims 'loose' skills they gained on holiday.

Have you checked to see that your Sim still has martial arts skill points?

ZOMBIE THREAD. but I believe I have an answer, and did not see any more current threads.

I had sims that could spar in Shang Simla, but could not spar at home.

on the first visit to China, I had not picked up any equipment, so there was no way to raise the skill at home. On the 2nd trip, I bought equipment. One of the sims got a wish to spar, but couldn't. I tried all 3 sims, none of them could spar.

I sent two sims to train, and they both gained a level AT HOME.

Sims 1 and 2 could now initiate sparring with each other and with sim 3. Sim 3 still couldn't initiate sparring with either of the other two.

The second Sim 3 gained a level "at home", then he could initiate the sparring.

So, it seems like if you're having trouble getting the "spar" interaction to come up, have your sim gain a level of Martial Arts in the "world" in question.
Please don't go. The Drones need you. They look up to you.

I have noticed that to! It's so disapointing when you're going on vacation to boot camp your sims.
