Mod that stops game crashing?

My game constantly gets the "Sims 3 has stopped working" popup thing. Basically it is constantly crashing, which really sucks because along with that it is pretty slow. Is there a mod out there that could stop the crashing and maybe even speed up my game a bit?

I'm nowhere near a mod expert but before my laptop's hard drive kicked in, I used ErrorTrap by Twallan and that fixed all my crashing problems. It also stops your files from getting corrupted! With ErrorTrap, your laptop should only ever crash if it overheats, but no other reason. :) (I did get crashing due to a Runtime Error as well as overheating, but that was a problem with my laptop, not the game)

Let me know if you need any help installing, and remember that it's a core mod so you need to be really specific with patching up and stuff. :) And be careful with using any other core mods, because core mods often conflict with each other!

Okay thanks. This will probably be the only mod I install (at least for now) because I don't know how my computer will handel any other ones.

I just wanted to add that I used to get that "The sims 3 has stopped working" a lot, too, and it has stopped completely since I got Overwatch from Nraas. I do not have ErrorTrap. But, if you decide to get another mod, I can recommend Overwatch. It automatically clears stuck sims in the neighborhood and also deletes the cars from public lots etc. For some reason it ended my crashing, and I'm more than happy.

For instructions I'd say to just read carefully what is posted at Nraas' installation intructions here. If you ever had any CC, you shouldn't have any difficulty.

I, too, can vouch for Overwatch! Reduced my lag brilliantly. I only have ErrorTrap and Overwatch, but I think most people would agree with me in saying that they are must haves for mod-users! :)

Error trap has really improved my game big time. I have used mods, even when they were banned here, and I still to this day kick myself for not looking into ErrorTrap.

The instructions on how to install are really confusing for me. Is there a different set of instructions on here how to do it or can someone just explain it to me please?

Okay, what bit of installing the mod are you on?

Here are Jeana's brilliant step-by-step instructions on how to make the mods folder and install your mods. :)

I'm stuck at the part were you extract the Resource cfg file and activate it. How do I extract it/ what is extracting it? Do I have to download the Winrar thing?

I just had a look at the resource.cfg in the link posted by Noodles (the one at NRaas) and it is not zipped so you do not need to extract it.  Just place it in your Mods folder.
