Creating stories with Powerpoint
« on: March 23, 2012, 02:07:33 PM »
I am currently taking a Powerpoint class and love it. So, naturally, I've decided to use it as how I'm projecting my legacy story. I was wondering if this has ever been done and how it's posted? I am still not sure if I'm willing to post it but if I decide to, is it done on this site? Has anyone else had the same idea as me?

I guess you post pictures and captions for your ppt thing.

I tend to have loud opinions. So sorry. I got tons of issues, lol. I can also be found on Yahoo! Answers.

I don't know for sure if it can be done, but my best guess is that a PowerPoint presentation would have to be uploaded as a file.  However, the only files we allow are the ones for items for the Swap Shop.  For stories on this Forum, you'd just have to do it the old fashioned way and post links to screenshots.

You could create it, but you couldn't share it here. The Powerpoint extension (.pptx, if I remember correctly) is not recognized. Only .sims3pack .mp3 and .mp4 are allowed. You can see this by going to "Attachments and other options" when posting and looking directly below the "Choose File" button. :)

Thank you for the replies!!! Does anyone know enough about Powerpoint to know if there's a way I can turn the slides into screen shots?

You can use the PrtScn button on your keyboard and paste it into MS Paint.  When you save it there, make sure it's a .jpg file.  And if pressing the PrtScn button doesn't work, try holding down Shift or Ctrl when you tap the PrtScn button.

Hmm, I'm wondering if this might help you. It might be that I've got the wrong end of the stick though, but it's a useful thing to know if you don't already...

Once you get a screenshot, the way Pam showed you, you could also use the capture button in game. You can then use it as a background for your slides. Do this by right clicking on the background on your slides, if you look through the tabs there is an option to chose an image for background, chose the file you saved =)

Hope this has helped!

Yes that is a very useful tool with Powerpoint and I've used it, but it doesn't help me in my quest to share my powerpoint with the world. :) Ah well, I wasn't sure I wanted to post it anyway!! Thanks for the replies!

There is a program for powerpoint that you can make a 'book', this is a sample:

If you have power point you download the free viewer:

Sadly you can't click on the book for more info, as the file was removed from media fire. But the program is really cool and worth looking into for a real 'book' feel!
