Weird Story Progression Occurrences
« on: March 20, 2012, 06:45:10 PM »
I'm sorry if there is already a topic for this or if this goes against the rules somehow, but what are some weird occourrances that have appeared in your game via story progression? I mean something like a weird couple or someone with an out-of-character job or something.

Yes, I am aware that there is a topic for the children of original townies and those are pretty random. So I guess here you could mention that that happened, but that would be it because if you wanted to show those pictures you could just go to that topic.
If at first you don't succeed, call it version 1.0.

A married SV couple (forgot) divorced, then they remarried days later.

I tend to have loud opinions. So sorry. I got tons of issues, lol. I can also be found on Yahoo! Answers.

I was playing around with Sunset Valley, and (maybe this is more of a bug ???) Hank and Pauline had three children when I was playing with them. I got bored, moved on to another house, then went back to them, and the third baby was a toddler and disappeared. He wasn't killed off, (I checked the newspaper), and he wasn't "kidnapped" by another household. My ultimate guess, was that he gotten taken away by the social worker? It was most likely a bug though.

I've had the Keaton's move into a bigger house 8 out of 10 games, after the baby was born, and their unborn child moved in with Claire's unborn child while they were dating. But they were still teens! I've had this in Riverview with Bob and Betty Newbie.

Don Lothario, (the TS2 town Casanova) seems to end up in more relationships with men than women, 9 out of 10 times with Story Progression on, usually with Hal Brecknage, Jedidiah Wilson, or Billy Caspian. In one game, he moved into the Lobo's house, and one of the twins were killed off. 9 out of 10 times, Constance Shelley is heavily pregnant every time I see her. I've had Dallas Shallow and Laurel Grisby date quite a bit too.

This is exactly why I stopped using EA's story progression as soon as I discovered Nraas.

People with no skills are advancing faster in their careers than people with skills. For instance, Buster Round (guitar level 1) made it Roadie in one sim hour and his guitar skill never changed.
For some reason, my female sim is always attracted to females and not males. I hadn't checked her gender preference when I started the game and she kept poppiing up "First Kiss with XXX (female") wishes. When I checked she was -875 for men and 600 for female. So I had her marry her maid Camilla.

Edit: Camilla had gender preference of +100000 for female and +50000 for male.

How do you find a Sims Gender preference? Is it only with Mods?

How do you find a Sims Gender preference? Is it only with Mods?

Preference is not really a good word for it.

Almost all Sims you make will be neutral to start with:  they essentially have no real preference at all.  This doesn't mean that they're bisexual exactly...they just don't have any real attraction to any gender.

However, on very rare occasions you'll get a Sim who has an overwhelming desire to smooch on Sims of the same gender right out of CAS.  I had a female Sim a couple years back who constantly generated wishes to make out with all of her female coworkers.  I got her a boyfriend, and even that did nothing to stop these constant wishes.  I eventually broke down and let her have her way.  :P

Some of the townies in SV at least have slight preferences at the start of the game.  Gobias Koffi, as indicated by his bio, has a slight attraction to men, and one of the girls (either Madison VanWatson or Monika Morris, don't remember which) has a slight tendency towards girls.  I haven't noticed any trends in other towns except for Bridgeport:  Jett Adkins seems to end up in a same sex relationship autonomously quite a bit.

However, the only way to see this is to use a mod like Master Controller...but it requires the "Cheats" module I believe.

This sim had the preference right outof CAS, and the only reason I found out (before checking with MC) is because she backed off when Matt Hamming tried a pick up line on her. I should have taken a picture of the look on his face!

The same sex relationships that I had occurred with Don Lothario, were also on mod free games I may add. I didn't set his preference, it just happened.

Did anyone get the missing baby/social worker somehow took the baby away through story progression glitch?

Yes, in a Twinbrook game a very long time ago I was playing the Coddle household. The day before she married into the Prudence his toddler daughter was around. When they got married the next day, toddler daughter was gone.

I knew I wasn't the only one experimenting this sort of thing. Did Pansy end up in another household, or did she somehow get taken away by the social worker out of your control?

Let's steer this thread back on topic, please.  It's about the weird things that story progression does, not about baby-erasing glitches.

I hope no one dies of laughter after this random couple that happened in one of my older games: Laurel Grisby and Hunter Cottoneye. Laurel was a young adult by the way when this happened.

Hunter Cottoneye tends to always have a girlfriend in all my games. That's a bit of a shock to me though because I don't think Hunter is boyfriend material. He'd scare them off with his insanity. Which one of the Lin Sisters has the flower in her hair, and the maternity dress for everyday wear? She ended up having a baby with George Dean, and even moved in with him.

Actually, that isn't even why I'd see Hunter having a girlfriend as being weird.  He's got that whole "nuclear war/zombie apocalypse/underground bunker/survivalist" thing going on.  Maybe she's his emergency food supply...

Wow, did I just go there?   :o

He's actually moved out of that bomb shelter quite a bit, and in with Hal. The tattoo artist actually was living with Elaine and Norman Joy, and she was Norman's girlfriend! Hetty Lionheart and Lucky Perkins are normally fashion stylists in my game out of my control.
