Creating a Town: Stage 4: Enjoy!
« on: March 20, 2012, 06:16:08 PM »
Hello There! I decided to try something different here on the forum, I am making a town! Its kind of from scratch, kind of not. Anyway, here is my goal...

Starting with a blank canvas I am creating a town with all the opportunities (schools, hospitals, salons ect.) and other buildings. Then, add unique families I create myself. Also, I want to fill the town as much as possible.

I will start by taking Sunset Valley and deleting every single building, then every single lot so there is nothing left but the ground.
This is what is looks like after the demo...

Pretty odd huh?

I will be updating my towns new additions regularly. So enjoy (or not but that's your choice;)) Comments always loved!

One of the things I love about the Sims is the fact that there are so many aspects of the game for us to enjoy. If you get enjoyment and pleasure out of rebuilding a town from scratch then that is great.
For me it would be really scary because I am not a builder but I am looking forward to seeing how things develop.

Would it be possible to do something like this without using Create-a-World? It would be amazing to create my own modern paradise where Sunset Valley is without having to use CAW (It just seems too complicated).

Hey guys I'm taking an extended hiatus... again. I'm out of ideas to build houses and I don't have as much fun designing homes like I used to; it feels more like a chore. So that's where I'll be, I will probably be back sometime. :P

That's why I resorted to demolishing the whole town and making it 100% what I want. Your so right CAW is WAY to complex for my not-so complex mind.

Well my question was would there be a way to upload that world when I was done? Sorry, I was sort of vague. :-[

I feel stupid... I am not quite sure what you are asking, do you mean when I finish this town do you want me to upload it to the forum? Or are you asking about CAW?

Not sure about uploading it the exchange but you could make the save file available for download on a file hosting site like Naga did for his remake of Sunset Valley.

Well I think he used CAW. I want to be able to delete all the lots in SV, replace them with my own, and upload it to the exchange mediafire etc etc as long as I can upload it without using CAW. Is that possible?

You could only upload it as a game file not necessarily as a world.

As far as I know he just used edit town to do it.
I've made similar saves of towns. When you start a new game and get to the overview of the town where you have the option of making a sim and moving in a household. Open the menu and go into edit town from there and modify your town and make a save. Going into edit town from here you never enter the game so all the sims in town haven't aged or done anything just like start a new game.
Then you can upload that save file for others to download and use.

Hello There Again! The building of my wonderful town in underway! I have decided to start by making the town (like where the schools, hospitals, jobs ect. are). This is Stage 2: Building the Town: Part 1

My build begins with the school (no particular reason I chose the school to build first).

The school will be surrounded by other public buildings as well.

School Colors: Yellow and Teal
School Name: Arena Heights Public School
Mascot: Dolphin
Location: Bottom left corner of the picture (dead end street)

The school has a cute little play ground and small pool.

How do you like the school?

Another part of my town is the small shopping plaza.

Plaza Name: Beach View Plaza
Plaza Stores: The Ivy Cafe, Note's Book Store, Cobblestone Grocer.
Location: Directly across from school.

That is all for now! Comments much appreciated. Thank you!

This is so cool! I am like you and find CAW way too complicated, even after watching/reading tons of tutorials.:-[ I love how you are doing this and I can't wait to see the families you come up with!
