The Hacker Dynasty. Episode 5: Tour of the Home

Episode Five: Tour of the Home

Before we go any further into the dynasty, the Hackers feel it is necessary to give you, the reader of this story, a tour of the home. After receiving $120,000 from completing the Painting the City opportunity, Justin had enough money to complete 80% of the house. There's still two rooms that don't have a use yet and the backyard is completely empty.

The exterior of the house includes gates to block off annoying paparazzis an arched driveway for parking two cars. Of course, the parking spots will probably be sold once more motive mobiles are added so every immortal can have his own in their inventory at all times. Windows were slowly added to the house as each painting was sold.

Inside the house, you're greeted by a long hallway and some artwork, making you feel warm and at home. Although you have a clear path to the backyard, you're also given the choice to go towards either the west wing or the east wing. We'll look at the east wing first.

The east wing consists of the kitchen, the dining area, and a fully functional sports bar. Although supermaxing mixology is currently impossible due to the lack of late night buildings in Sunset Valley, they can be added later should an immortal decide he wants to do that. If you look to your left, you can see the Hackers enjoying some waffles cooked by the butler.

One of the bathrooms and the laundry room. Laundry can truly be amazing when done right.

At one of the ends of the home is a formal area or study. Sometimes you just want a quiet area to sit back and read a book.

Towards the left is the servant's quarters. Each butler gets everything they need: A bed, a bookshelf, and a comfortable chair. They even get their own dresser and mirror, although the latter isn't shown. To the right is the immortal sleeping room. Originally each immortal was going to get a 5x5 "prison" without a door whenever they finished consisting of a bed, a fridge, a table and chair, a TV, a chair, and a shower. With cooking left open for immortals however, it's safe to let them roam the house when they're done so it's the sleeping room all over again.

In the west wing, we have the dedicated party room. This room has all sorts of various entertainment including foosball, karaoke, shuffleboard, a DJ booth in the corner, skeeball, arcade machines, and the biggest TV ever introduced The Sims. Sims who want to play pool will have to go to the sports bar however. The double retunda doors lead to Justin's painting studio, the one to the right of that is another bathroom, and the door in the corner leads to the baby sanctuary.

The baby closet had to be scrapped unfortunately, due to 2 fatal flaws in the design. Flaw #1: No fireplace. Flaw #2: No window facing outdoors for Beautiful Vista. Between his needs being permanently full, having Beautiful Vista, having an incense (too early into the dynasty to have all 3), having Cozy Fire, and having Very Fresh Clothing, Terry is one happy baby. Of course the door remains locked so no one can bother him, plus Agnes upgraded the fireplace to be fireproof. From worst parents ever to best parents ever now?

Oh now look what happened, they were so busy giving you a tour of the house that we forgot Justin's birthday.

But they were kind enough to give Terry a makeover for his toddler portrait.

The Hacker Dynasty. Episode 6: Hacking Buddies
« Reply #33 on: March 26, 2012, 07:31:24 PM »
Episode Six: Hacking Buddies

Although things are nearly complete for the Hackers, there is still so much to do. Agnes needs to get some deathfish and upgrade the food replicator while completing her third condition of living in the house while Justin needs to grow some life fruit and, more importantly, make some friends. He can't qualify for immortality if he can't have any bros, homies, posse members, or just best friends.

We begin this episode with Terry's child birthday. Child birthdays are nothing to scoff at in the Hacker household. Becoming a child means you're officially free from the baby sanctuary and allowed to roam the house, doing what you want so as long as you don't extend your life in any way... or have an imaginary friend...

Justin: See, you make a wish and then you blow the candles out.
*Terry sneezes on the cake*
Justin: Close enough.

Look at them googly eyes, staring at a painting of a unicorn for five days straight can't be good for your eyesight, but he'll be fine.

Terry: It's time to go out and see what the rest of the house has to offer! Let's explore!

Terry became adventurous

He seemed like the ponytail kind of sim... hey, he closed his eyes!

Terry: What's this thing? Oooh! This is fun!

Best leave him alone until he becomes a teenager.

Something that needs to happen in order for Justin to become immortal is for him to make some friends. The only people he really knows are his butler and Christopher Steel but the butler is a good start.

Justin: Uh... wow... what do I talk about... so...
Cortney Kim: Sir, it appears that you are trying to befriend me. Would you like some advice on how to properly do it.
Justin: Sure.

Eager to try out the lessons he learned from his butler, Justin went to Christopher Steel's house to put it to good use. He already knew all of his traits because of an architectural designer job so this should be easy, right?

Justin: What do you do for a living?
Christopher Steel: I work in business, I give coffee to others.
Cortney Kim's Voice in Justin's Head: (You're charismatic, keep enthusing about business)
Justin: I like business
Christopher Steel: Me too, 2 plus signs for us.
Justin: I like business
Christopher Steel: Me too, 2 plus signs for us.
Justin: I like business
Christopher Steel: Me too, 2 plus signs for us.
Justin: Are we friends yet?
Christopher Steel: I don't know, keep enthusing about business.

Realizing how easy it was to make friends, Justin went around town enthusing about various sims' careers and certain traits.

Meanwhile, Agnes was getting a lot of complaints from her boss about the lack of reports she was sending in. Since Agnes isn't too crazy about questioning people, she was reduced to rummaging through trash in order to satisfy the need for reports. Being a loner, it beats being near people.

Agnes: This is not what I had in mind when I signed up for law enforcement. Ugh! What is this?

To make up for the fact that Agnes spent the entire weekend rummaging through trash for reports, Justin did make enough friends to throw an actual party to celebrate Agnes's birthday.

Justin: Happy birthday Agnes!
Agnes: Couldn't you have asked the butler not to cook? They're more interested in the mac and cheese.
Justin: It's the thought that counts, right?
Agnes: I guess...

Agnes: Ow my spine! And I'm still not at the top of my career.

For now, here's Agnes's elder makeover.

The Hacker Dynasty. Episode 7: Buster Wolf

Episode Seven: Buster Wolf

Although Justin is struggling to get the last two opportunities that he can actually complete, he's essentially finished and waiting to become an elder at this point. We shift our focus over to young Terry, who really can't do anything until he's a teenager. Being disciplined, it's pretty obvious he's going to supermax Martial Arts but here's the kicker, Terry cannot travel until he's a young adult. That doesn't mean he can't get started as a teenager however...

The episode begins with Terry's teen birthday. Terry's curiosity about the house never satisfied him as he never figured out what that one big unused room is for or why the original baby closet and now baby sanctuary are locked.

Justin: Happy birthday Terry! I got you a present.
Terry: "Martial Arts Vol. 1: Wax on Philosophic." Wow! Thanks dad, you're the coolest!
Agnes: My present for you isn't ready yet sweetie but I promise you'll love it.

Terry: With this book, I'm gonna be all "ARE YOU OKAY?" before I unleash my super special attack.

It may not sound like it, but Terry did become charismatic.

After learning to drive, Terry got his teenage makeover. He's still growing that ponytail.

Terry: You read a little bit of this, right? Want to spar?
Agnes: Only because they were offering a raise if I did... go easy on me, okay?

Terry: RISING OVERHAND SURPRISE CHOP ATTACK!
Agnes: Ow! I told you to go easy!
Terry: Sorry.

Terry spent the next couple of days sparring with Agnes until level 5, then meditating. Although he isn't allowed to travel yet, the consignment store and sparring allows him to still work on Martial Arts.

Agnes managed to hit level 10 in the law enforcement career (forensics branch) so Agnes's conditions for helping Justin out are all satisfied. No sculpting or photography, hire a butler, and reach level 10 in a career. What does Agnes think of all of this?

Agnes: (I'm glad I helped him, if he fails, I'd be happy to marry him again.)

What does Agnes do after this? Retire of course.

Hitting level 10 made Agnes so happy that she was able to get Terry his late birthday present.

Agnes: Here you go, sorry I was late.
Terry: Is this what I think it is?
Agnes: Yeah, happy birthday!

Genie: Greetings Master, I am Felix Farrell. Because you have found my lamp, I shall grant you three wishes. Use them as you see fit.
Terry: W-wow! My very own genie! Can I make my first wish now?
Felix: Sure. What would you like? Fortune? Popularity? A longer life?
Terry: Well... could you make me happier? I wish for eternal happiness.
Felix: Done! You have 2 wishes remaining.
Terry: Sweet!

The Hacker Dynasty. Episode 8: The First Immortal
« Reply #38 on: March 31, 2012, 07:30:13 PM »
Episode Eight: The First Immortal

Some of you may be wondering why it's necessary to do everything that is required for immortality. Living forever is a pretty big deal, the requirements are there so that being immortal actually has meaning. Here's a little explanation as to what each objective means.

The Lifetime Wish: Very obvious. If an immortal tries to eat ambrosia without the lifetime wish complete, he or she will never truly be fulfilled and must live forever feeling empty inside.
The Career: To show that the immortal is the very best in his field of employment. Failure to satisfy this means there will always be that one person who is a better businessman or rock star than you.
The Supermax: Most people are satisfied with level 10 but for immortality, the sim must be the absolute, undeniable best at a skill. Without the supermax, it would be The Devil Went Down to Georgia all over again, only the immortal is The Devil.
Real Estate: To truly become the best in the land, the immortal needs to own a piece of it. This is surprisingly important as there may be a crazed billionaire that wants to buy the entire city but as long as immortals own a piece of the city and never sell it, they can't be bought out and evicted.
Portraits: To have their path to immortality remembered for all of eternity. Without this, people will eventually forget the immortals.
Unique Lifetime Rewards: Proof of their happiness throughout the journey. An immortal without this may as well question why they're immortal to begin with if they were so unhappy.
Unique Opportunities: To show that they helped various citizens in their time of need. Any immortal who doesn't complete their blackops will eventually be hated amongst all of the city for being greedy and stuck-up.
Best Friends: Despite everything else they have to do, they still need to have a social life during the journey. They need the spirits of their best friends to watch over them in order to prevent the immortal from being forever alone.

If this was too long for you, then here's a summarized version. Immortality is for sims who want to stroke their ego.

This episode begins with Terry making his second wish to the genie. The good thing about the one day cooldown is that it gives the master to think about what he really wants so he can make full use of his three wishes.

Felix: I am fully rested and ready to grant your second wish, Master.
Terry: I think I know what I want. I wish for--
Justin: Fortune! Wish for money!
Terry: World peace. Is that possible? Wishing for world peace?
Felix: Done! You have one more wish remaining.
Justin: Awww...

Using the power of the butler and meeting new friends in school, it was no problem for Terry to throw parties for friendship while he meditated all day.

Felix: This spaghetti is good, but I could magically summon better food.
Terry: ...
Felix: Master, am I disturbing your meditation?
Terry: ...
Party Guest: Great party Terry!

A few days of meditation and parties later, it was finally time for Justin's elder birthday party. There isn't much to say about him, he got a once in a lifetime chance to start an immortal dynasty because some other guy decided "forget this" and left. He's doing quite well actually, all he needs is his elder portrait and he's done. Poor Terry has to miss the party because of school though.

Agnes: You're going to love this part. This is where you spin in a circle and break your spine.
Justin: That sounds painful.
Agnes: Oh no, trust me, all you have to do is eat the ambrosia afterwards and it'll fully heal.
Justin: Then that means your spine is still broken? How are you even moving?
Agnes: Magic

That jacket looks oddly familiar.

Justin: Huh? I don't feel anything. Either my spine isn't broken or it hurt so much that I actually didn't feel it.

After flopping his arms and legs around to find out the hard way that he was fine, it was time for his elder makeover.

It seems that every founder can pull off the beard. Must be a blessing from Agnes.

Before becoming immortal, there's one final obstacle that needs to be overcome. No one ever learned the recipe for ambrosia. Thank goodness the bookstore was having a sale so Justin ran out and got it at around half price. Right around the time Justin got home, Terry started doing his homework.

Terry: Dad, I have to write an essay on what the meaning of life is, can you help?
Justin: The answer is to become immortal.
Butler Douglas: If I may, the correct answer is seven, good sir.
Justin: On second thought, write what he said while I finish learning this recipe.
Terry: Seven... okay, only 999 words to go.
Douglas: Another tactic you could use is stapling some money on the back of your essay.

With his elder portrait painted by Agnes, all of Justin's requirements are now complete. After preparing a plate of ambrosia, Justin sat down and dined on it for the first time.

Justin: I'm not sure if life fruit and deathfish make a good combo, but it tastes alright. Hey Terry, come try some.
Terry: ...
Justin: (Nothing can break that boy's meditation)

Justin Hacker is now immortal.
