Recipes Known: 87% but knows everything

I went in the game and sorted them by level. Here's the list I got.

Comparing the two list the differences I found was.

These seem to be all Vegetarian recipes and I think you have to have the Vegetarian trait to learn them as you come up in skill level. There not bought recipes.

Well, this is rather interesting. The moment my sim did go vegetarian he almost instantly got a new wish: Learn 7 Tofu Recipes for 200 LTP.
Description: 'Tofu is absolutely delicious, and there are so many different ways to prepare it! Your sim wants to learn more tofu recipes.'

Now was my sim a vegi before at the moment I've installed Showtime. Perhaps this wish only shows up at the start of going vegy. Interesting.

It could just be a new wish that's available now that there new tofu recipes since tofu didn't exist before Showtime.  There is a possibility that any vegetarians pre-patch will also get this wish once they reach a certain level of cooking.

Yes, that could be indeed. But my sim was already overskilled in cooking before he got this wish.
Though, I don't see any unknown recipe he could make now he is a vegetarian. Very strange.

That's because with Showtime they got rid of the separate recipes for Vegetarians.  Now a cooking sim can make food for her meat eating husband and her vegetable only eating daughter without the daughter getting sick.

So, if this sim makes Lobster Thermidor, that recipe become automatically Vegetarian Lobster Thermidor?

No there are now two separate recipes for Lobster Thermidor so if you go to make it you have to choose which one you want to make - the meat or the veggie version.  The vegetarian version is automatically learned when you learn the cooking skill.  You may be seeing only 87% because the game told the script that you should have had 87% when you loaded showtime and it forgot to add in the ones you already knew.   This is just a guess though.


Being a vegetarian no longer matters when it comes to cooking.  Unlike what grimsoul said above, you do not have to have the vegetarian trait to make vegetarian food as of the Showtime patch.

Thanks for the update. I didn't know that had been changed.

But if your character wasn't a vegetarian and was made before the change and already had the cooking skill maxed they wouldn't know the veggie recipes would they?
Like a sim made before pets didn't have the pet recipes. But they could be learned from watching the cooking channel.

Most likely the same thing as before with Pets, you're right.   I didn't have any maxed out cooks pre-Showtime that survived patching up to test this out.  I do know that I have a chef right now that's not a vegetarian and she learned all the vegetarian meals alongside their meat counterparts except for the ones you had to buy.

Well, my sim doesn't make any new vegetarian recipe aside from what he knew already. And I have no clue on how to change this: vegy trait or not.

Trade Kitchen Secrets if he is a Natural cook or watch some Cookin' Cable.   That's the best answer if you don't have the veggi rolls, vegetarian lobster and the others that are learned.
