What is the maximum number of sim we can own?

I started with 2 twin brother. Each of them maried and had children. But now, I couldn't make another baby because everytime I involve in romance, "make a baby" didn't come out. Do you know why? When I call for adoption, they said something like "enough number of sim in your household". Can we adjust the maximum number of sim in our control? Or maybe I should move to bigger house so I can produce or control more sims. Anyone know?

I have 5 children. They are growing up. I really want to see they got older and married. But if this game has its limit, I need to kick out few sims to start a new family. I love big family and really want to see them grow in front of my eyes.

There is a set limit of 8 sims per household at any given time. If you've exceeded that limit then you can't have any more sims. Sorry, but there is generally no way around this other than trying to play 2 households simultaneously, which could get complicated with story progression on.

Like Swede said, there is a limit of eight Sims per household.  You can either move out a couple of Sims when they grow up, or just wait for the oldest ones to die.  Once you have an open slot, you can have another baby.
