Sims changing home like maniacs and disappearing
« on: April 24, 2010, 08:07:56 AM »
when i came back to sims after 4month break, installed WA and started playing not too soon after starting i noticed that my neighbors and other sims i dont play with changes their home like crazy. For an example i build nice little mansion nextdoor the household i usually play and placed 5sim family in it and furnished it for them, it toke less than 3days and they moved to some small lot with not enough beds for 5 and only 1 bathroom for some reason and the house next to my sims went empty. Another was one other family with 2 sims, teenager and adult, those 2 literally visited every uninhabited house in riverview when they just moved around.

In a nutshell, pretty much every family i dont play moves around and some disappear entirely from the game, even the ones that aint playermade like goth and landgbraab.

Is there anyway to fix this, probably a bug from WA since i didnt have this when i played 4months ago with only basegame and i dont have any core mods installed. :|

Sordos, welcome to the forums. Other neighborhood Sims moving around a lot is no bug. It's a feature called Story Progression and you'll find it in Options. Can can turn that off if you wish.

Yeah i was bit wondering is it a bug or just a feature being bit too active on story progression, well guess i just have to adapt to it and delete some houses i dont want nonplayed sims to move in neighborhoods or fill them with other families. Cant really play without story progression of since it feels bit weird and dull when only you and your family ages. ;'<

But you're right: it doesn't make sense people moving into houses which are much too small for a big family.

There is another post on this subject too.  Mine moves all of the time and it can be irritating, but, if you decide to move them back, they acquire the furniture of the house they moved from.  I just had one move a few sim hours after I moved him into the house.  He is living across town with some other couple, lol.  I guess that is the way it goes in simworld.

This problem sounds like you had a stroke of bad luck from the story progression, nothing really to be done about it.

Actually, without story progression all households still ages since that is controlled by the independent option "Aging On/Off". However, without story progression no new sims will move in or be born, so, with the exception of one townie per working place, the town will eventually be completely drained of people outside your household.

Yep, so true.  I guess if people moving is the worst thing that can happen, then will just deal with it.  I just find the sim that moved and sort of fix the house they moved to.  I have had sims move numerous times, so finally, I just gave up and figured, if they are happy, then so be it, LOL.  I can live with it.

What happened is that EA changed how story progression works while you were away.  They updated it and made it much more active than when the game first came out.  It does crazy things now, for sure!

If you don't want the Housholds to move around, mainly out of the area then you could switch to play them then switch back using the 'change active households' button in Edit Mode.
