Can't get rid of sim
« on: March 14, 2012, 09:20:42 PM »
My game keeps freezing on kick-out, even after a restart (clear caches etc). Does anyone know what causes this? Or how I can fix it? It happens on move-out and it won't even let me split the household from edit town. If I try, and go back to the game, there are no active sims. If I use 'switch to this household after trying to split, the sim I want gone is still there, and doesn't seem to end up on the clip-board. If I switch active households before splitting it still doesn't work.

Is the same thing happening in other game files?

I managed to move out 2 other sims, who previously I had a problem moving one of by herself. I think it's either this particular household, or this particular sim. I have seen a whole lot of the same complaint on the main forum, but no solution as yet. In the end I burnt her to death and my other sims had to cop a 2 day debuff :(

For next time, if all you want is to get rid of a Sim and not just move him out, you can delete him by enabling testing cheats.  Then you shift click on the Sim and click delete.  The Sim will disappear from the game.

I've never done that, so I'm curious if there are any disadvantages to using this method?
I think I read somewhere here that "it might mess up familytrees eventually". But, it would be a convenient way to get rid of some sims...

I'm also under the impression that simply deleting a Sim can lead to problems later in that game. I think all the data related to this Sim isn't properly removed, which will lead to save corruption at some point. So, it's a good idea as long as it's not a save you want to keep for a long time.

A while ago I deleted a sim and afterwards she still show up in my sims relationship panel. I don't play that file anymore so I don't know what happen in the long run.
