Career clothes--how do I change what she wears?
« on: March 13, 2012, 09:03:44 PM »
I started a new sims (still playing my others, just wanted to try a different one) and she is in the medical field.  She has started her new job and she changed into her outfit.  Into a FORMAL  ::)  .  I tried to change her before she left, but she just switched back to the formal.
It was one of those morning for her, just as she goes to shower, it breaks and is flooding the bathroom.  I am trying to have her fix it, clean up the mess, then she goes and changes into a formal and goes to rush out the door.

Her first day on the job and she is 40 minutes late to work  :-[  .  The next day was better, ready in plenty of time, starting to play on the computer when the horn blares; she goes and changes into the formal and dashes out the door.
So, how do I get her out of that formal and into an appropriate outfit for work?

Th first level of the medical career alows your sim to wear their reguler clothes. Is the sim insane? That may be the cause for the clothes switch since that is what insane sims do.
If at first you don't succeed, call it version 1.0.

My insane criminal does the same thing.  Changes into some awful outfit before going to work. Once he reached a level in his career that had an outfit before like level 2 or level 3, he started wearing the appropriate outfit.  However, if you make a new career outfit they will wear that until the end of time no matter what their career level is.

No, I don't have her insane; I would expect something that silly, LOL.

She went for the formal the next day, but when she recieved a promotion later she wearing pink scrubs (I HATE pink).  She is now a resident and is wearing the normal white jacket.
A hiccup I guess in something.

Just confused me.

Pre-Showtime the first level or two of all rabbit hole profession was your normal every day outfit.   When Showtime and it's patch came out, the career outfit became customizable and the computer makes something up for the career outfit for that level instead of sending you in your every day clothes like they would have before.

It makes something up for self-employed Sims, too. My painter and sculptor both got a "Career" outfit consisting of their usual jeans and shoes, plus a randomly colored shirt.

Insane Sims will still only wear their work outfit to work.  However, since the 1.31 patch work outfits got a little...goofy.  Some of the lower level default outfits got mixed up.

To create a custom work outfit, go to any dresser and select "Plan Outfit."  This will take them to a CAS screen where they can only modify their clothing.  Click on the career tab, click the button with a + on it, and it will add a secondary outfit.  You can't alter the default outfit at all, but the secondary one you can do whatever you want with it.  Once you're done, click the check mark and you'll go back to the game.  Then simply change into the secondary work outfit (whether it's time for work or not).  Now, any time your Sim goes to work, they will use the secondary outfit.  While you're wearing it, you can also go to the mirror and alter the hairstyle for your secondary work outfit.

Don't go overboard with making extra outfits.  Too many outfits causes game related problems.

Sounds like my old Hippie science teacher in 1972.
