Perhaps. Actually, now that you mentioned it, I can add that since Showtime I have internet connection on when playing to have access to the social features. Hmm, maybe that could be connected to the lag issues.

I think it is to do with net connection - I constantly play while being connected to the internet, because I enjoy the social features, but so far I have experienced no lag. This is probably just because I'm playing on a new machine, though. On my old laptop, the game lagged considerably more with internet connection than without. So yea, I suggest to whoever has the problem, to play without being connected for a while and see if there is a difference. :)

I believe the internet connection makes a difference in lag, and have not played with internet connected for years d/t the major difference I noted in performance without it.

I have all of the EP's installed and even with no CC I had a bit of lag time to time. Interestingly enough, I noticed my game runs perfectly smooth with little to no S3packs installed. I have gigs of normal pkgs. (& all of Twallan's mods) added without any problems, but every time I install the ** blue packs..my game takes forever to load and is virtually unplayable.

I miss all my store goodies..but if you need to play with CC..try emptying your downloads folder and putting your pkg. files back into mods/pkgs.

Will be interested to see if this helps or not =) GL!!

PS - I have an approx. 2 yr old ASUS laptop, and since the latest patch I have a few custom homes installed without any major lag problems.

I believe that is true as well, and I have tested it recently. My laptop is five months old and I have all the expansion packs as well as three stuff packs installed. My CPU is an Intel Core i7-2620M and it runs with 8 GB Ram and on a NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M with 1 GB dedicated DDR3 VRAM graphics card. I have always played with my internet connection turned on even prior to Showtime, and even though there is usually not much lag in-game, the loading times are quite long.

I read about the possibility of internet connectivity affecting the performance of the game somewhere here in this forum and decided to try it out, and to my surprise, the loading time seemed to be faster, not to mention that the rendering transition of the town as you switch between views and places is smoother and faster as well, so yes, I do believe that internet connectivity may have an effect on the game performance.

...Yeah, that's me.

I would have to test it, but I think you're right. I have about the same as you have, but mine has 16 GB Ram. I also have lags. The long loading, freezing when speeding up, sometimes just for no reason. I'll test to see if my game works better without the internet too. The lag is really annoying. It made me put a hold on my dynasty...

My PC is a high-end laptop designed for gaming (I-7 and plenty of RAM, and a whoopie doo graphics doodad). Until the Showtime EP I never experienced lag unless I let myself get carried away with elaborate buildings and landscaping (many many varieties of plants/shrubs/trees on a single lot -- something we're advised not to do).

HOWEVER!!! After installing Showtime I've had nothing but lag. Generally, if I start a new sim family in a fresh world it will play fine for about six hours before lag pushes my patience over the edge.

SOLUTION. I've spent considerable time reading threads on the lag issue on a number of sites and this is what works for me. Delete the Showtime venues (Flying V coffeeshop, Kareoke place, etc). I did this in Edit Town using the bulldozer. In time, lag will commence being a problem again; when it does I type SHIFT+CONTROL+C and then enter "resetsim * ". This solves the lag problem for an hour or so, whereupon I go through the resetsim * process again. It's not a perfect solution, but it's stopped me from chucking the game altogether.

Shame shame shame on a company mature as EA for launching an EP so flawed, but then I'm quite certain they'll more than pay for it with the hit to their bottom line.
