The suggested retail I saw on Sims VIP was 28.99, which is almost 10.00 more than the normal 19.99 for a SP.
Then as far as I'm concerned, they can keep it. It'll be in the Amazon bargain bin soon enough.
Actually, part of the whole reason Katy Perry got a name for herself in Sims is because she had at least one song in the Billboard Hot 100 for over a year (69 weeks/only artist to ever do it for that long). She's broken a few music records that no one has since Michael Jackson's reign as pop king. Her first album was Gospel Rock which is where I originally heard of her from. When she went mainstream, it was a bold move. I may not like her music but as a person she's interesting.
Breaking records doesn't pay the bills.
The problem with the entertainment industry is that if you're not doing something
today, you're no longer relevant. People lose interest and you become a has-been very quickly. Momentum is a bad thing to lose, and once you start losing that, it's
very difficult to get back. I would literally run out of room in this post if I tried to list all the artists who learned that lesson. Partnering with video game companies will not get that momentum back. She needs to release a new CD...and it needs to be something special. The problem is that it sounds like she's already set the bar pretty high for herself.
Going mainstream from gospel is not as bold a move as it seems. There have been quite a few artists who have done that before her...two of which that immediately come to mind are Debbie Gibson and Amy Lee from Evanesence. Heck, Johnny Cash actually went
back and forth between the two (and before you say it, Johnny Cash was the first real "rock and roller." He was trashing hotel rooms before the members of Van Halen were even born). In fact, it's a foregone conclusion that if someone is singing gospel, but is looking to make a career in the music business, that they're going to jump genres at some point.
