The new recipes did come with the patch, so you don't have to have Showtime. It's possible that you can find seeds for bananas, too; but I haven't checked that out.

Bananas are rare trees so if you plant unknown rare seeds and get trees then you know they are banana trees.

Keep in mind that you can also plant anything you can buy at the grocery store.  All you really need to do is look for special seeds to get the things you can't buy.  However, you can find flame fruit in the Wainwright's yard.

There is also flame fruits at the Langeraks and Koffi households sometimes.  It's different every game on who gets it out of the three.

Does anyone know if you -need- Showtime to have Bananas?  The receptive for Fried Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich came up at the bookstore with the newest patch,  but I can't buy bananas at the Grocery Store.  So do I need Showtime for Bananas, or can I find rare seeds and get Banana trees?

If you click on the fridge for making the peanut-butter-banana sandwich, the money just comes out of your pocket. No need to go shopping. My sim never grocery shops, she just pays as she cooks.

Ah, that's true.

But I'd like to have Banana trees for my Gardener, if I can.  I've started collecting/planting rare seeds, so I'll see if I get one.

A quick note on foods/plants/seeds with the patch: I have noticed that Tofu is buyable now, (though there does not appear to be a tofu plant). Carrots (as I don't have pets either) are not buyable, and I've never seen a carrot plant or seed.

That's the thing, I'm not finding them at the grocery store.  I don't have Showtime or Pets; so I didn't think about it at first.  Tofu showed up at the Grocery store though, so I'm not sure if Bananas and Carrots are supposed to.

Do you know what tab they're under?

I have Showtime and Pets. For me though the Bananas and Carrots are listed in the tab with the rest of the fruits and veggies.

Ok, thanks.  I'll see if I just missed them.

They show up for me with the other fruits and veggies. I do have all the expansions though,so maybe someone who doesn't have showime and pets can help and let us know if they have carrots and bananas.

I don't have Pets or Showtime, but I'm patched to 1.33. No carrots or bananas in the grocery store for me. I haven't had any rare seeds grow into banana trees either.

So it looks like if you don't have pets or showtime you won't get bananas or carrots. That is a shame. It is possible to supermax gardening without all the expansion packs. I supermaxed it with just the base game and ambitions.

Me neither.

Yeah.  I guess the Fried Banana and Peanut Butter recepie showing up on patch 1.33 is not intentional on EA's part.  Though like MoMoll mentioned, you can still use that recepie by clicking on the fridge.

I guess just more incentive to get Pets and Showtime, though they might have to wait and be Birthday gifts or something. :)

It's quite possible.  World Adventures makes it easier because of the extra plants, but Gardening's Supermax-able (is that a word?) with just Base Game, you just have to get the Omni-Plant opportunity.
