Super maxing gardening, a quick question.
« on: March 12, 2012, 06:37:45 PM »
One of the challenges says you have to plant all 19 plants in the game... is this including the WA ones? If so, it freaks me out a bit, that I won't do it before immortal 2 reaches YA (my immortal dynasty), so she can get the seeds. Should I move onto super maxing cooking, or stay where I'm at?

I'd like to see the answer to this too. I'm curious about it. I chose it also for my dynasty. I'm hoping to play without traveling. Traveling equals tons of bugs for me.

I didn't take natural cook either (my favourite trait!) so it might be a bit harder, but oh well. Even THAT one still can't be completed without traveling. :(

No, the 19 different plants are all in the base game, but the ones from the omniplant opportunities are included (cheese, egg, patty, burger & omniplant).

Cooking is indeed easier and faster, and you don't rely on random opportunities to unlock the skill challenges. Fishing is also good and safe, but takes longer time.

I was thinking 2nd gen might do cooking, not really sure. I'm a little bit torn, to be totally honest.

It's not as hard as it sounds, just send your Sim searching for seeds and you'll be able to grow all the plants in no time. Also your Sim won't reach immortal status until she/he becomes an elder and has completed all the requirements so it sounds like you have plenty of time.  :) Have you read Carl's guide for gardening? It contains maps showing special seed locations for some of the towns too, link is here:

Just wondering, what town are you playing in?

Sunset Valley, Christopher Steele is husband, and I moved Agnes in for her painting skill money and car. :D I'm nearly at enough LTHP for collection helper, so that should help, and gardening is maxed. :)

You should be fine in Sunset Valley. I was a little concerned with mine. I'm in Lunar Lakes. However, a great member here posted a screen shot of where seeds are. Now I think I'm going to make it just fine.

I just wanted to mention that there are a ton of new recipes now especially if you have showtime or pets that make supermaxing cooking even easier, no travelling required.  It all depends on if the new vegetarian recipes came with the patch or with showtime.  Pets came with five new recipes for pet food that count plus if you know a natural cook (Emma Hatch for instance) you can trade kitchen secrets and never have to worry about traveling.   In my first dynasty attempt, I had my founder learn every recipe (including Ambrosia) without buying any of them.  I didn't even get any of the ones from the bookstore.  Emma Hatch and Jared Frio gave all of them to me.

Doesn't the 'trade kitchen secrets' work, only with natural cook? Yeah, I hope so- I've found what appears to be a future money tree, but no death flowers or life fruit as of yet.

Deathflower at the graveyard for Sunset Valley so that should get you started there.   Life fruits will take more finding but there are some well documented spots for seeds in SV.  The trick with special seeds is that if it only sells for $0 then it's a money tree or death flower.  If it sells for actual cash, it will be a life plant, flamefruit or plasma fruit.  Plasma fruits will glow red on the ground so you'll know if it's one of them.

I don't actually know if only works with Natural cook or not.

It is possible to learn a lot of the recipes whilst watching the cooking channel even those usually found in the world adventure locations.

I've looked REPEATEDLY for the death flower in SV! Do you have a screen shot or exact location of where it might be? And I had heard that about the seeds, thanks so much, wasn't sure if it was true. :)

It's at the graveyard right next to the entrance where you drive up.  Other side of the fence, can't miss it.
