Teacher's Tourist Trap
« on: March 12, 2012, 11:35:28 AM »
Teacher’s Tourist Trap

Goal
You’re a brilliant teacher in the Education career who commands an incredible hourly wage. Yet, what of your legacy? Will you pass on having never shared your brilliant DNA with others? Decisions, decisions. You have no desire for marriage and commitment, yet you want to pass along your smart genes to as many Sims as possible...at least to those lucky Tourists you may meet.

General Challenge Rules
The General Challenge Rules always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules
  • Create a  male Young Adult Sim.
  • World Adventures and Ambitions must be installed.
  • You may not add to the household.
  • You are allowed one 3-day vacation.
  • You may only Woo hoo and Try For Baby with Tourist Sims (Sims invited from WA locations qualify as Tourist Sims).
  • Your Sim must register for the Education career on Day 1 and he can never quit or be fired from his job.
  • Please DO NOT ask for any clarifications if your question hints at strategy. You can always PM me.
  • The challenge ends at Week 4, Day 7, 11:59 PM.

Scoring
Easy peasy — just 2 scoring components. The first is your teacher’s final Salary at the end of the challenge. Simply click the Career tab and note the hourly pay. The other scoring component is the total size of his Family Tree. Just click the Simology tab, and then the Family Tree button. Count up all Sims underneath your teacher. You receive 50 points for all Sims underneath your Sim. Add your Salary and Family Tree together for your Total.

Interesting, but surprising.  I thought you were opposed to the male fertilizer type challenges.

Seems cool, I might try this one!  :)
If at first you don't succeed, call it version 1.0.

Yeah, well...I guess I have no defense to that comment aside from the fact that I think it's a really cool concept — not so much because of the Try For Baby with as many Tourists as you can part. But, it's that you are faced with the tough prospect of deciding what to weigh — salary vs. Try For Baby. That's what makes this really interesting and very difficult (IMHO).

Whew! I love the fact that this challenge is just one sim! I'm currently micromanaging eight. I used to like being in full control, bu now it is a relief to not need to!!!

I'm assuming we add the two components together. I, too, am looking forward to playing just one Sim who doesn't have to travel.

So, does our Sim have to be employed in the Teacher Career? Because I see nothing under the Specific Challenge rules to say so (Apart from the "Add together your Teacher's Salary..." parts).
And the Sims our Sim WooHoo's with - they have to have the Tourist Suffix, right? Like "Ai Pei, Tourist"?

That's what I thought, too.   :o

It's been a pretty long time since I've posted to this forum since I took an extended break from playing, but I've started up again and this looks to be a pretty simple format that even I can do.

But I don't have tons of free time play, between work, keeping my real household alive, and keeping up with tivo.  So my question is, do you guys mind is a pretty seriously casual player jumps in?

That's an interesting question. I'll give it some thought.

Of course not. All are welcome to participate in the Tournament.

The following rule was just added —

  • Your Sim must register for the Education career on Day 1 and he can never quit his job.

I'll pass on this one.  Promiscuity in any form just goes against the grain.  Call me an old fuddy duddy but personally, the whole world would be better if folks just learned the meaning of the word, "no".
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

I have to hear/say "No" often enough in the real world, so I'm still in.  I've just started playing, and have changed my free will and lifespan to meet the requirements.  Are we supposed to check "Disable autonomy for selected sim"?  I assume that we leave it unchecked, but I'd like to know for sure.

Might just have to try this one.  Sounds pretty cool.
