The Grim Saga Continues..

   When we last left our intrepid travelers, Ares was struck with the decision to choose one or to take both girls with him to the Dragon Cave.   Little did he know this particular adventure only really required him to enter the Cave's first three rooms before having to return back to the village. 

   "Well ladies," Ares said as he turned to them. "That was the Dragon Cave.  Thanks for coming.  I need to go see a guy about a reward now."   With a wink the young red man, jogged off towards the entrance stairs.

   "So we ran all the way up here to see a few statues and to take some coins?"  Rosemary chirped in irritation. 

   Dakota snickered a bit and started to walk out of the room, speaking over her shoulder. "Be happy we got to see that much.  I heard Artie say he stopped coming because Ares had gotten one where all he had to do was talk to people on different ends of Shang Simla."

   Rosemary moved for the door at a quicker pace and passed Dakota just as she was about to move through the open door.  "Whatever, if you want to be happy with pittance be my guest, I'm going back to the house to break rocks."

   Rosemary kept up her pace all the way down the hill but Dakota took it leisurely.  She had always assumed that she was going to be Ares wife when they got older.  When Rosemary moved in, it became obvious that she shouldn't have assumed anything.   When she heard the rumors of Ares kissing his way around China, she realized that if she really wanted it, she had to take matters into her own hands.

   The plan had barely begun when the phone on her hip started to ring.  It was a local from The Order of the Resolute Fist wondering if she would be interested in helping them.  She immediately accepted with the thought that fate was stepping in to help her plan.  Her pace quickened as she made her way to the bottom of the hill.  She checked with the watcher to find Ares' location and made a beeline for him.

   "Hey handsome.  I just got a call from someone and I was wondering if you and that special tool of yours could help me?"  Dakota purred the words at him as she arrived. 

   Ares grinned to her and looked around to see if Rosemary was nearby and this was a trick of some kind.  Seeing that it was just them, he gave her his full attention.  "My special tool is always up for helping a pretty little thing like you.  Where shall we take you?"

   "I need to climb up to the Temple of Heaven and find a relic for one of the local monks.  Think you and your tool are up for the challenge?"  She may not have been born with the flirty trait but she had learned a thing or two watching their parents as they grew up. 

   Ares took a moment to actually look at the person he was talking to.  Why had he never noticed that this 'roommate' was actually a beautiful young woman.   "I like a challenge.  I need to head there myself for a little errand.  I would be more than happy to escort you, m'lady."  With a bow and a sweep of his arm, he lead Dakota away from the Scholar's Garden and up the hill to the Temple of Heaven.

   The two of them talked all the way up the hill until they reached the historic spot.  The architecture and view were simply breathtaking.   Dakota realized that this was her chance.   With a turn of her body and a push on her toes, she planted her lips against his to steal her very first kiss.

   Ares had never expected sparks to fly with someone he had known so long.  He had actually been thinking what it would be like to kiss her when she had done it to him.   He wanted more than just a small peck on the lips form her and took it to the next few steps.  He went slowly in case she decided to reject him but she didn't seem to want that just now. 

   Dakota knew that if this went badly for them that things could most likely become strained in the house.  She wasn't allowed to move out so she would have to see him every day for the rest of her life.  However, she couldn't get him out of her head.  She wanted to kiss him again.  She wanted to make out with him.  She wanted to hug him and she wanted to do a little more than all of that as well. 

   In a moment's distraction, she hit the magic button to make the tent set up just a few feet from them.   Worried that her resolve would falter, she grabbed him by the hand and tugged gently for him to follow her into the tent.  Ares didn't need more than that tug to start his momentum forward.  Then as far as she was concerned what happened was definitely.... uplifting.

   As soon as the moment was over though, Ares was back to normal.  "You ready to go down into the temple for that relic?"

   Dakota couldn't believe she let herself believe that things would be any different but maybe what had just happened meant so much he didn't know how to handle it.   An inner conscience, if you will (read Rica), mentioned that it was just all she really should have expected and it was time to move on.  She sighed, "Yeah let's go."

Rosemary: -falls for it-
Dakota: "You cad!  I can't believe you're flirting with her after what we did up at the temple!"
Rica: "I told you he was more trouble than he's worth."


Dakota: "You've been planning this all along haven't you?  Join the house, steal him out from under my nose so you can live the life of luxury."
Rosemary: "What are you talking about?  I moved in to garden and what do you mean what you did at the temple.  He told me you guys just did a quick grab of a relic nothing else."


Rosemary: "I can't believe you told me you two didn't do anything!  How could I have believed you?!"
Ares: "I don't know why you are getting mad at me. You both threw yourselves at me. "


Ares: "Ladies Ladies.. I have an idea.  While I admit that I wouldn't have thought to give either of you a chance before now.  I'm open to the idea of maybe making this an arrangment where I get both of you."
Dakota & Rosemary: "I don't think so!"


Rosemary: -a little cocky-  "Hey I have an idea, too.  How about we fight for him?"
Dakota: "You're on."


Rosemary: "I can't believe you won.  2 out of 3?"
Dakota: "You're such a sore loser.  Sure."


Dakota: "Good win but I thought I almost had you that time."
Rosemary: "Yeah it was close."
Buzz & Artie: "Will you two take it outside?  Trying to play a game here!"


Ares: "150!"
Rica: "One challenge down many more to go, my friend."
Ares: "At this rate I may supermax before I'm an adult."
Rica: "It would certainly make things easier and you know you might want to think about generation three too."
Ares: "I think the girls are working that out now."


Dakota: "Ready for number three?"
Rosemary: "Sure why not."
Rica: "Do you two really want to fight for that guy over there.  Sure he looks good in his swimsuit but he's a kind of a horse's behind."


Girls: "Yes but what a behind."
Dakota: "How about a soak in the hottub?"
Rosemary: "That sounds good.  I was starting to get sore from the fights."


Rosemary: -whispers: "Can you imagine having a baby with him?  I mean really having a baby with him.   There you'd be with Artie the Third and Romeo would probably be at the stadium with his girlfriend."
Dakota: "You really think he would never change?"
Rica: "I'm not even sure I could make him change."


Dakota: "What do we tell him when he asks who's the winner?"
Rosemary: "We demand dates before we leave tomorrow night and just see if there are any real sparks you know?"
Rica: "I'll be watching ladies.  "


Buzz: "So I think all of our plans to have the same grandchild are completely out the door at this point."
Artie: "Yeah sorry about that.  I can't make the boy marry your daughter. Well I could try."
Buzz: "Yes but I appreciate that you realize that wouldn't make any of us happy. "
Artie: "I don't know.  Having a grandchild running around could help me forget that I should be worried about other people's happiness."
Buzz: "Especially if it got my eyes and your skin." -chuckles-
Rica: -mouth open in shock at the plotting old biddies-


Ares: "Here ya go.  I think I got the ones in your favorite color."
Dakota: "Wow these are beautiful.  You're still a cad though.  "
Ares: -shrug- "I am what I am.."




Rica: I can report that date night went fine without any hitches.  Both ladies had a good time with Mr Fantastic but there was no real sparks going on other than wanting to watch stars with one another for both couples.   Maybe when they get home.. right?


Rica: .. if they can untangle themselves that is.
Artie: "Who keeps stepping on my foot?!"
Ares: "Why did the dimensional gate put us out here?"
Buzz: "Ok whoever's hand that is needs to move it right now!"

I just wanted to thank everyone who comments and for those who read but don't!  I really and truly appreciate all of you.   I love telling Artie's story the way it has been but today I just wanted to write so I did the earlier update on the fly while I was waiting for the brownies to bake. 

I still have so many surprises left in store for everyone that I can't wait for you all to see.  I just looked and I have around 250 screenshots waiting to be shared with more than their fair share of twists to keep you all interested in this family like I am.   I've actually stopped playing for a little bit so I can try and get all the updates posted.  Some days seem to be easier than others but we all know how that goes.  Mayhaps the long weekend will give me an excuse to do an Artie Update Bonanza!

Rica I really love Artie and his family and I can feel the love that you have for them. It probably sounds sappy but it is so much easier to write for a family when you feel a connection to them and you certainly have a bond with the Grims.

I get the feeling that there will be many twists and turns to the story especially when it comes to Dakota and Ares. I know how I would have the story go and I am interested to see if we both think along the same lines. I am not going to say what I am thinking because if you don't do it then I might just do it in my dynasty.

Rica: I decided to reorganize the house just a teensy bit and as a result the garden actually got "manicured" to match the rest of Lunar Lakes.


Rica: We've also issued a paparazzi uniform code that this week all paparazzi have to wear pirate outfits.


Ares: "Whoo!  I'm so outta there!"
Rica: "Yes now it's time to get a job and grow up."
Artie: "Well get a job at least and preferably make me a grandpa sooner rather than later."
Dakota: "I can't believe what you got voted for."
Artie: -sniffles-  "I know I'm so proud"
Rica: "Ok so what was it?"
Ares: "Class Valedictorian and I was voted Most likely to Take Over the World."
Artie: "So proud." -wipes at his eyes-


Bubba: "Hey what's going on!"
Rica: "Happy Birthday Bubba!"
Bubba: "I didn't know it was my birthday."
Rica: "I'm so happy it is though. "


Rica:"Oh what a pretty boy you are.."
Bubba: "Why Thank you."
Artie: "Here Kittykittykitty Here Kittykittykitty."
Rica: "Run!"


Too Slow!  I like his new look though.  I'm a big fan of tuxedo coloring myself.

Rica: "Hey look who took a step in the right direction."
Ares: "I don't know why you wouldn't let me do this in China."
Rica: "I wanted you to get the 7 day moodlet for your first week of work."
Ares: "Well aren't you going to congratulate me?"
Rica: "I thought I did."


Reaper John: "C'mon big fella.  It's time to come home." -pets Baxtor gently-
Artie: "Not another one.  Why do the pets have to die too?!"
Reaper John: "PUtting it on a little thick there buddy."
Rosemary: "Why is the maid here?"
Artie: "Oh Buzz and I wanted to introduce him to you and Dakota just to say hi and he's family oriented."

Rica: "Ok next time switch into different clothes!  I thought you were your father!"
Ares: "Would my father be this awesome at riding?"
Rica: "Yes your father tames the bull every morning before breakfast."
Ares: "Oh.. well then.  I guess I'll just .. go sleep now or something."


Bubba: "Well hello Grandpa Bigglesworth"
Mr. Bigglesworth: "So you're the one."
Bubba: "The one what?"
Mr. Bigglesworth: "You'll find out soon enough.  Want to play?"
Bubba: "Uhh sure."


Random Note of the Day:  Did you know that Flame Fruit Nectar actually had flames?  Neat huh.

Rosemary: "Why are we in France all of a sudden?"
Dakota: "I don't remember saying I wanted to come."
Ares: "Hey I have to finish that adventure from China here."
Rica: "Exactly - Ares needs to do something here.  He may as well get a house and I wanted you three to spend time together to sort out your issues."
Ares: "What issues?"
Rica: "Oh I don't know.  The fact that you're a romantic interest of both of them."
Ares: "So?"
Rica: "So - my biological clock for this generation is ticking.  TICK TOCK MAN TICK TOCK."


Rica: "What are you two doing?"
Rosemary: "What does it look like?"
Dakota: "Ares wants to run around and do a tomb or two and talk to someone about that China thing so we decided to meditate together."
Rica: "Could you at least do it in the back yard of the base camp?"
Rosemary: "No."
Dakota: "Of Course not."


Ares: "Yes I wanted to talk to you about the Dragon Cave Keystone."
Estelle Fouchier, Nectar Merchant: "Oh yes, I know exactly what you need to know and here's a level 1 Visa for France"
Ares: "Wow you people are easy."
Estelle: "Excuse me?"
Ares: "Oh nothing."


Rica: "Umm.. Where's the rest of you..?"
Ares: "Right here."
Rica: "Are you sure?"


Rica: "Oh there it is. How did you manage that?"
Ares: "Manage what?  Oh hey it is a hidden door."
Rica: "You mean you couldn't tell by being on the other side?"


Rosemary: "Oh they're so pretty."
Rica: "Yes and this island has some grapes for you to collect for home."
Rosemary: "So that's why Dakota told me I would enjoy being over here."


French Gnome: "Oh no the museum monster is going to eat me like it did the others."
Rica: "Aww.  It's ok little guy it's not a museum monster.  It's just me picking you up and putting you in a dusty bag to take home."


Noëlle Saint James, Market Merchant: "And that should qualify you for Visa Level 2 here in France."
Ares: "Wait.. seriously.  All I did was find a baseball and get you a date."
Noëlle: "Don't worry there are other things for you to here in France."
Rica: "Tell her we want to go to the Landgraab Mansion."
Ares: "What about the Landgraab Mansion?"
Noëlle: -starts acting shady-  "Would you like to buy a moped?"


Dakota: "Argh.. So close.  So close. "
Rica: "A watched pot never boils."


Ares: "Is this why I've been asking everyone about the Landgraab Mansion so I could put this key in this hole?"
Rica: "Yeah this is for your China thing.  I wanted to do 2 birds 1 stone. "
Ares: "You mean you wanted me to do 2 birds with 1 stone."
Rica: "Meh.. details."


Rica: "See I told you it would go faster if you stopped looking."
Dakota: -sigh- "I'm at peace.. I'm at peace.. Wahoo I'm finally done leveling.. I'm at peace.."


Dakota: "Kiai!"
Rica: "Nice.. now all three of you can do it.  I might just get my gem collection yet!"


Rica: "Hello Yves.  I'm sorry now that I've seen this face I don't think I can persuade anyone to seduce you."
Yves: "I tink I've had too much.  The nectar is talking to me."


Dakota: -fluttering eyelashes- "Hi Jules.  I'm Dakota.  You have very pretty eyes."
Jules: "So do you, ma chérie."
Ares: -thinks- "Well if she's going to flirt in France then maybe I should.. No nevermind have you seen the look of this woman."


Charlotte Dubois, Special Merchant: "And that makes us best friends and you get your final visa level for France.  You can come by to see anything I have anytime you want."
Ares: "Thanks.  That was a little too easy."
Rica: "It's your opportunisitic and adventurous natures working together to make me very happy."
Ares: "Sure.."


Rica: And who is this evil looking sim hanging outside the bookstore and why is she about to bother my Ares.. hrm?
