Martial Arts Challenges

Another stupid question, but this was a problem for another person a while back: Do you click on the refrigerator or the oven? If it's the oven only a part of the possible dishes is shown, so click on the refrigerator.

I tried both the oven and the 'fridge.

I did have the recipe and the Death fish and Life fruit (both in her inventory and in the 'fridge).

Pam, when I click to make it the word Ambrosia is either grayed out as if I don't have an ingredient or it doesn't show up at all. I have tried both to 'Serve' and to 'Have' - neither worked. lol!

BUT . . .the thing is - and this is why it irritates me so much - when I first started I played around with a couple and I had them do all sorts of things including make Ambrosia. It wasn't either of their Lifetime wishes or needed to make a ghost a real person.

I'm not sure if they had already made it or if you just need to know the recipe and have the ingredients but if you have a buffet table and click to serve - you can serve Ambrosia to everyone there not just a single serving. Is that a glitch with my game to?


AWESOME NEWS: I called to challenge and the guy didn't back out - he came!!! Woot Woot!! I did 5 challenges until it said I was a Tournament Rank 1 - and then it wouldn't let me challenge again that day. Her vacation ended the next morning so I'm not sure what that meant.

This sorry I can't come something came up thing always happens to me now and then. Sometimes you just have to wait for another day, sometimes you have to personally visit him(in his home or shop), sometimes you have to go back home(Riverview or Sunset Valley home) then come back to China.

I remember a challenger saying that he couldn't come. I found his house and found him watching tv. That lazy bum. At least have the courtesy to greet me. Sheesh.

Yes, that's right.  I can't believe I didn't think of that.  It will tell you the reason why you can't prepare it if you try to click on it when it's grayed out.

When I click on it when it's grayed out it says my Sim does not know the recipe.

LOL - Grrrr - It says that even though Ambrosia is listed in my Sims recipes known.

I've never had a challenger come to my sim, I've always had to go find them, even if they were just normal chinese sims (not merchants). I've always gone by their last name and just found their household.

Icemink, where did you call from?  I always have my sims go to the Academy and call their challengers from there.  I've never had a problem with them turning up, but you usually have to wait a while.

The challengers have always come to me, too, whether it's at the Base Camp, the Market, my vacation house, or wherever.  I just make the phone call and wait for them to show up.

The only thing I can think of is a) your Sim was fatigued, or b) your opponent was fatigued/or pregnant.

The basic protocol that I've followed is: Call Sim > Invite next Tournament Opponent > Friendly Intro when they show up > Challenge. That Intro part is important because when they show up they're still strangers to your Sim and the Challenge will not be available. But, since you mentioned you were chatting with them, then that's already covered.

This has happened to me a few times, and I eventually realized that it was because I was chatting to the wrong person.  When the challengers arrive they seem to bring along their whole household, and of course by the time they get there I've usually forgotten the name of the person I'm supposed to be sparring with.  Sometimes I have to introduce my sim to several people before I find the right one.

Your sparring partner will always be the one wearing a Martial Arts uniform.  That helps me identify them.
