Martial Arts Challenges

I think I am having a problem - I have gotten my Sim up to level 10 in Martial Arts and now she is back in China. I have had her sparring for a few days to build up experience before starting trying to challenges. So I finally started challenging - I called on my phone and it asks if I am sure I want to challenge to the death . . . . or to the shame? I answered yes. The response REPEATEDLY FOR DAYS now is - "I'm sorry, something else came up"

How am I suppose to get a challenge excepted??

Is this how all 20 are going to go to reach Grand Master status?

This means the other sim you are trying to call over is busy, sometimes calling again can get them to come over but also try calling at different times of the day. It is all about patience so there is no way to make them come over, unless one of the LTHR will help with that...

I haven't had any trouble getting my sims to complete the martial arts challenges.  The only thing I can think of, could your challenger be one of the merchants?  As far as I can tell, they never seem to leave the store.

2) I've called at all times of the day and night - it hasn't changed his reply so you may be right, it may be a merchant. Is there a way to track down the name or change who I am challenging?

LOL - okay, it is glaringly apparent I am new at Sims 3.

I think Metro had this problem once.  It's probably that the other Sim is a merchant.  Unfortunately, we weren't able to figure out a way around it.  Nothing would work.  You can go to the market and see if this person is at one of the shops, but I don't think you'll be able to get the challenge done.  Sometimes the merchants change when you return to the country on another vacation, so that might be something to try.

I did have a major problem. It was a nightmare because the Sim who was supposed to be my next sparring partner was a merchant and seemed to be permanently living in the shop. I gave up. Before I throw up a new Max skills challenge where all skills and challenges will need to be done, I'll have to consider letting a cheat slide—maybe something drastic like deleting the Sim which would probably force the game to cough up a new opponent.

Or if it's outside a challenge you could just kill the problematic sim, but maybe it's just me who's too morbid...
If you want to refrain from cheating that is.

Sorry to hear you had the same issue Metro. . . . but, lol, I'm glad someone has - I was starting to think it was just me and my game was glitching badly.

This isn't the 1st time my game has done odd stuff with no clear way around the issue. My last family had a ghost baby which I decided I wanted to make real. I went through all the steps to have them learn and top out their Gardening, Cooking and Fishing skills so they could make Ambrosia. I got the Death fish and Life fruit and had the recipe to make the Ambrosia.

The game refused to let her make Ambrosia no matter how many times I had her learn to make it. I tried every time of day. I went back and got more Death fish and more fruit. No matter what I tried - I still couldn't get Ambrosia as an option.

LMAO - I even asked on a different S3 forum for advice and was told they had heard of others having the same issue but had heard of no solution. I finally gave up so, needless to say - after several hours trying to get this challenger to accept I am starting to think my game just won't allow me to finish certain challenges. ARGH!!!

I will try your suggestions though and let you know the outcome. Thanks again.

And Swede - I would be happy to kill the challenger (cheat or not) to either get a new challenger or get past this issue. I am not adverse to cheating. (lol!) I wouldn't mind someone using a 'Motherlode' or two on my life sometime either though.

What exactly happened when you tried to make Ambrosia?  My first thought is that maybe you were using the "Serve Dinner" option (or Lunch or Breakfast).  Ambrosia doesn't show up there.  You have to do the "Have Dinner" option where you're only making a single serving.  With that option, it comes up as a meal at all times of the day and night.  If you don't have the ingredients in inventory or in the refrigerator, Ambrosia will be faded out, but still there.
