The Jade Dynasty (Reaching the End, Part 1 - 4th Sept)

This is a really good story, Samoht. (Shall I call you Sam or Tom?) I've seen your mastery in building and landscaping. Can I see a tour?

Thank you. My real name is Tom but whatever is easiest for you to remember (The awkwardness that I now respond to 'Sam' at School.. Lol..)  I've just opened up their file so I'll take some pics. There will be a spoiler of a nursery addition but oh well.

So you may have noticed a new wallpaper in the background when Kyle was ageing up, that was in fact a new Kitchen which was in a new house. The old house was too small and had some routing issues and just wasn't big enough in the family areas for a family that often throws birthday parties and has guests etc. So a new house was built and hopefully this will last till the very end. It's not really finished at all and I don't want to all in one go to keep me interested with the house as well as the family and not restart it.

From garden:



Ground Floor: Kitchen area is at the back of the house, also with the dining room. Then at the top of the picture going right you have the Gen 3 Nursery, next room is Rue's bedroom and at the front in the top right is Tristan's room. The living room is small because only the Genie and Kerry really use it, Lol. It used to be where the deck was, the story is behind where I am in game and a renovation behind. The basement is accessed near the front door.



Upstairs: Karren's room and the empty space for future Heirs. If i run out of room up there which hopefully I won't then someone will either live in a Granny Pad or live in the basement.



I can't wait to show you the finished Brightmore once they recuperate their funds I spent on the dance floor area, Lol.

Beautiful House! While I'd never be able complete a challenge like this, I'd love to design a house for one. I guess I'll bulldoze SV again for the space for designing lots of challenge houses!

Thank you! The houses are quite tricky because you really want to avoid those frivolous rooms and such that will never be used since the museum will become so big and really dent performance. So far I don't think I've ever got it right,

Chapter 21 - The Heat of Egypt

"You know, this Immortality thing. I don't see why some people would hate it. I mean I know I will live forever and that people we love will die but that happens in a normal life anyway. "

I think some people believe it is selfish because they keep the Immortality to themselves and let their loved ones die even though they have the power to stop that.

"The World needs Immortals anyway Cupcake, who would protect them from the Unicorns?"

Some Immortals are needed more than others, you just give them nice stuff to put on their walls, Immortals like Rue will give them food to survive.

"Hmm, anyway it's Kyle's Graduation, we should be celebrating life not questioning death."



"He did so well, like me!"

Kyle got Valedictorian and most likely to be a superstar athlete.. Yeah not happening.

"If you ask me being an Athlete is better than being a policeman.."

He wants to be a Spy not a Policeman. Besides he's already maxed both Athletic and Logic so he'll not have to do much.



So.. Trip to Egypt anyone?

"As long as he doesn't come.."

Either he comes or you get locked in a basement to paint for the rest of your life..

"Darn you.. Hey Kyle, get ready to go to Egypt!"

Actually.. Either way you may end up in that basement...

Normally I'd say it was normal to turn up like that but this time you're the only one dressed in your nightwear so I'm going to say it's your fault.



"The air is so warm here and the sun is so orange. Even though it's a desert it still feels more colourful than Starlight Shores does, all that dark green and concrete.. Uhg."

Well, you can't move away from Starlight Shores, you've got to stick with it.

"Hmph, when this Dynasty is over I am so out of that place, I'll take whoever wants to go with me and we'll be off to Lucky Palms, Sunlit Tides or anywhere but Starlight Shores. Somewhere warm, vibrant and colourful."

Yeah, yeah..



"You seen my Cupcake? She better not be with that child again."

She's not with him, No.



Oh.. I lied.. Such a shame.





"You know.. You said I have to produce a child for this Dynasty thing.."

Yes, I do remember that, I have records of that conversation if you wan-...

"You have records? Weirdo. Anyway, I've decided it's not so bad after all."



Hmmm..? Why isn't it so bad?

"Because.. I do."



Who's question was that an answer to?

"Both questions." *giggle*







"Now if you'll excuse me, I want to make the most of my Wedding/Honeymoon here in Egypt."

*raises eyebrow* Just wait till your Father finds out, maybe you should go home early with him and tell him then Kyle can come home without risk of being lost in a time machine..



"My father will understand."

Really? He couldn't understand that a Unicorn saved his life and now he's out to get them..

"Yeah, I'm his Cupcake though, he'll listen to me. He likes me way more than he likes you."



Now, can we leave this sandy place...

I'm starting to dislike the way I'm writing this story, it just doesn't seem right? I don't know what it is but I just don't like it as much any more. It seems like it's getting worse and worse as I each update goes out, so does anyone have any ideas on which style I should switch to?

Do you mean the sort-of talking with your sims style? I always thought you were a really brilliant writer in the way you did your old legacy and the current one, when you speak from the sim's point of view.

She is right. I've read the Character Legacy and it was brilliant. This story is also very good, you must enjoy writing. Write the way you enjoy the most.

Yeah. I find it easier to write as them than with them, I think that in this style it's harder to talk about accomplishments and such.

I've been reading the Jade Dynasty for quite a while, but always kept quiet... The Watcher of this family is very strong. He is the most famous builder on this forum, experienced in the ways of the Sims, AND a most wonderful writer.
Now, however, I must speak up: I like the Jade Dynasty enormously.

I think the Watcher's relationship with Tris is hilarious, but very tense. I think, this may stand in the Watcher's way to build up a good relationship with Rue aka Cupcake. It is healthy for a Watcher to take a break now and again, and to let the Watched Ones speak for themselves.
But... No Watcher can tell another Watcher what to do do.
The Unicorns agree on this: Story Tellers must follow their heart.

Side note, I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about corruption in sims games. I know that the Sims games go .bad or something? I checked and this hasn't happened but I've noticed an increasing number of townies going around are glitched, from the neck down they are textureless, you can tell one is wearing shorts but no detail or textures - just this weird grey colour. I also get random pausing sometimes, does anyone know/have experience with this?

All Watchers fear this.    The files of their charges may become too heavy to handle. The random pausing may go in a while, but, this Watcher finds graying out very critical and far worse. It jeopardizes the task of watching and recording. It also can lead to *headdesk*, *facepalm* and extreme frustrations.
This may sound stupid, but such inflictions can be cured by cleaning out internet caches. A defrag of the hard disk may also help.

Thank you for such nice comments! I think I will let the Watched Ones speak, maybe add a little bit of speech in there if I can. Tristan doesn't want to do what the Unicorns say though so I don't know if I'll be able to shut him up.

I clear my cache files out regularly but I will do it again and see if it's still happening next time I load the game. One of the affected Sims is easy to find as he's the main paparazzi for the family. If I was him he seems to arrive at the house a few seconds later...

I totally agree with this quote. I enjoy The Jade Dynasty very much and love your style of writing.

Getting engaged under the star is most romantic. Rue looks very happy with Kyle. They make a great couple. I enjoyed it a lot and am looking forward to your next chapter. Great photos.
