Mixing the game's regional codes?
« on: March 09, 2012, 03:54:20 PM »
Hi! Maybe this is a silly question, but I need to ask anyway.

I've read that mixing the game's regional codes (like having the Worldwide version for the base game and then a different one for an EP) can cause technical issues and that you even may not be able to install an EP with a different regional code than the base game. Is this true? I'm asking because I live in Chile, and here they always import the English version. The thing is I'm moving to Germany in 10 days and Showtime won't be here yet, so I'm going to buy it Europe, but I'm afraid the regional codes might be different and cause me trouble. How do you know which regional code you're buying? I found it out just by chance, while I was manually patching my game, but I wouldn't know where to look if I had to buy a new EP and check the regional code.

Anyone knows anything about this?

My Sims3 and Pets were bought in the US and the rest of the discs were from France. I've had no issue, and i play them in English and not French.

No, it should cause no problem at all.  You may have to play around in the SKU to change the codes when you install a new EP with a different code.  I had to do that for my daughter's game once because her base game region code did not match with World Adventures (bought off Ebay), but that was the only time.  There is information through Google on how to do this if it happens to you. ;D
