I noticed I was getting lower relationships (the red minus signs) from the audience when I messed up on acrobatic tricks, but when I took active control of my sim and picked the tricks she performed during the stage time, the relationships started going up again (blue plus signs).

You're not following me lol.  My relationships are dropping even though there are "+" signs over everyone's heads.  I go through a whole show, with everyone dancing, cheering, clapping, and "+" all over the place, but when I step off the stage, anyone I talk to is in the red on the relationship bar.

Have you actually spoken to anyone in the crowd afterwards?

I experienced what you are talking about Hosfac. It annoyed really annoyed me because I love the new professions and I didn't understand why it was happening. I ended up uninstalling Showtime and then re-installing it. That pretty much fixed the problem for me and a lot of other issues too (I did the same thing for WA and LN when they came out and there where all those problems). You can try that and see if it works. Though, I'm not sure if the problem will come back up as it hasn't been that long since I re-installed.

Well, I'm going to give it some time before I try this.  Let me know in a couple of days what you discover.  I'm glad to see that this is maybe an issue that might be easily solved by something I can do myself.

At level 5 my singer had had three times the moodlet "untuned" after his gigs, I decided I'd try "personal" for the stage and I made him buy a big decor. At the end of the gig, he was very successfull this time. I think this is needed to have a better performance.

Yes, you never want to use the venue's stage set-up unless you're flat broke starting out and can't afford to buy anything.

I'm playing with two sims of which one is an acrobat without the diva trait, and one is a singer with the diva trait. Both are natural born performers. Both lose relationship points during shows, regardless of how well they do, it seems.

So, it's been a few days since my uninstall and I haven't been experiencing any relationship decay during performances. I think you could go ahead and give it a try Hosfac.

I wonder if this is related to the diva trait.  I noticed the same thing with my diva singer.  When I created a new singer and did not give her the diva trait this doesn't seem to happen anymore.

My singer doesn't have the diva trait, but still loses a very small amount of relationship during performance.  Most of the time it's not really noticeable, but when she had reached level 10 my save bugged and the only way I could recover it was to copy the household to the library, delete the current house and then copy it back, which of course wiped out all relationships with the town.  It was then obvious after the next performance that nearly all the spectators had taken a very minor relationship hit, as they were no longer hidden amongst the clutter of pre-existing relationships.

It was very small though, and not game breaking by any means.  A quick perform for tips afterwards easily got rid of it.  My singer doesn't have any of the new traits, as she was a pre-existing sim - perhaps some of the new traits remove the relationship loss.

Also highest monetary gain from a performance so far - 21600 after a star performance at the Ultimate venue.  There's money to be made in this old singing game!

I just installed this expansion pack and joined the Singer career, do you need something to allow you to perform for tips and perform the song-a-grams? My sim will not do either, she has a guitar and can perform a song but as soon as I click on the sing-a-gram icons nothing happens. So no career increase...

The sing-a-grams pop up as job opportunities.  You can select to do one manually too.  I can't remember at what level playing for tips became available, but I think it was quite early and may have been right from the start.  Also if you don't get the option, try leaving the building.  I've noticed I don't get the option inside sometimes.

I get the oportunities, but I cannot select them. I am starting a new game to see if I still have the same issue.

So the new game works, not sure what the issue was with the first game...

If you re-read my previous post it states that both sims with and without a diva trait seem to be having the same problem.

For anyone who has progressed higher than level 6 in the singing career:  how long do I have to keep doing sing-a-grams?

It's not that i really mind them...it's just that you get them all day, every day, with no break.  I've got no time to do anything else.  I can't really work on friendships, can't go to the consignment shop, can't go to the salon...I can't do anything that you have to do during the daytime because I'm constantly hounded to sing to celebrate someone's workout, flirt for them, or some other such nonsense.   :-\

You don't have to do then if you don't want to. My Sim really speeded to level 8 in no time after I've runs out that the best way to pump up that career meter is by throwing parties at small venues with little to do and than performing for tips. Because fact is: playing for tips is a constant duration and your Sim won't stop until he or she get fatigue and that can take a while. This makes the performance bar constantly filling. To speed this up, let sims give you gigs. Therefore: party at venues. Works like a charm. ;)
