The singing career is kinda buggy.

I'm at level #9 and should be level 10 shortly.

Basically you have to find proprietors to GET A GIG (audition) and as you progress, you move up to higher levels.

I still haven't figured out how to get great reviews consistently yet, but right now it's earning about 4000-5000 simoleans a concert.   Certainly NOT comparable to say Bridgeport TIPS with guitar (tried singing for tips, it's like $100 a pop versus if you use the guitar hack (i.e. dong lots of performances), you can get 50,000 in a couple of hours in bridgeport's subways :)

That much I know, and I've already got 4 gigs in a row lined up so I should get a break from singing telegrams.  But seeing as you're close to level 10, does the Sing-A-Gram requests when you don't have a gig ever stop?

I don't see singing gram now after i started getting gigs.  Basically as soon as I started getting gigs, the grams dissappear (but that might be because every day i have something).

And just hit level 10 at the events center (where you see a ton of sims, but in reality those are background people, only a few sims is in the audience :)  i.e. it's animation not actual sims you can interact.

Now i think it'll average around 7000 simoleans a gig - not bad per day but definitely not that great compare to gardening and growing fish on omni plants, or even guitar (if you're nuts enough to get the number of performances high) tips.

I should hav eadded the charming trait - probably would help with the case.

But, basically, once you get good, you'll start to get "regular gigs".   I.e. you'll be at certain place to play at certain times.

Funny, this game is the first one where i saw a sim die from fire.   Married another townie when i started (thought she'd be a good utility s9im but then she ended up being a singer) - she went out and did a sing-a-gram and then she caught on fire - didn't know what to do for a bit and tried to get her to the swimming pool -  she died... sad :(    now i have Lanya which is a bookworm/writer.    They aren't that compatible though  (Romance takes an entire day lol).    But that's probably because my sim didn't have the charming trait.

It has:  Virtuoso, Artistic, Ambitious, Diva and Natural Born Performer.  I think next time i'll drop the Diva (kinda useless i think).

I got one after my very first performance at the park, and I thought "Okay, this is going to be easy!"  Nope.  I haven't seen another regular gig since, although I do perform regularly.

I'm curious if you're experiencing something, or if I'm doing something wrong:  when my sim performs, the audience loses relationship with her even though they have the little "+" marks over their head.  All my performances have been good (although the last two have been excellent), but everyone in the audience ends up disliking her (and when I talk to them afterwards, the progress panel says "X feels a little insulted") even though they're not throwing things at me anymore.  :P

I can build relationships quite well when performing for tips, but the actual stage shows seem to always have a negative impact on my relationships.

For now, my sim has a voice again, yay.  It isn't the sound card, it is just a known problem right now, sometimes they have a voice, sometimes they don't.  For now, it is all good.  My sim finally performed in the park, kinda neat, except she did not get a very good review, she will though, she is only level 3 right now.

There is a bug in the software - it seems that every now and then the proprietors (and other stuff in the overall map) dissappears.

Also, some venues you have to go there to GET the proprietors OUT of the venue to talk to you.

But once it's rolling it's fine.   Try saving, exiting and come back.

I now get around $11k per gig, which is not bad :)

Also, make sure you get your guitar skills up.  It helps.

BTW, all my relationship with all the SIMS are DOWN.

It's either a bug or the DIVA issue (i have it).   probably going to do a midlife crisis to see what can be done - probably change it to charismatic.

People i think just hates divas LOL.

Wow, the level above 10 (i.e. it'll keep increasing) netted $18,000 simoleans in one concert at the stadium.

Now that makes more sense lol.

That's an interesting possibility.  My sim has the Diva trait, too.  I'll have to investigate this a bit more...

you get a big mood boost though if you use the features of DIVA (adds for 30-60 minutes).

Also, just ofund out if you talk to tourists if you have world aventures, you can learn new songs.

One thing I noticed about the Natural Born Performer trait: if your performer has it, you quickly make friends with the audience, but if you do not have it, you get minimal relationship gains.

I have a question? I have everyone talking about the "diva" and the "natural born star" trait, I haven't seen them in my trait list.

sdhoey: They are two out three new traits that came with Showtime. If you have it installed they should be in your trait list when you create a sim or give traits to young adult sims.

That's what supposed to happen, but in my experience it's not doing this.  What I've noticed is that when you perform shows, that your relationship always drops (and I'm not the only one who has noticed this, either).  You gain relationship when performing with tips...but not while performing a show.  Everyone in town pretty much hates my singer.  I'm certain that it's bugged...at least for singer.  I haven't tried Magician or Acrobat yet, and I haven't tried it without the traits, but I will soon.

By the way:  do not take the Social Butterfly trait unless you're making a Sim in the political career and have multiple sims in the household.  This trait destroys your social need at an alarming pace, and gives you a bad moodlet if you don't talk to several different sims regularly.

I noticed I was getting lower relationships (the red minus signs) from the audience when I messed up on acrobatic tricks, but when I took active control of my sim and picked the tricks she performed during the stage time, the relationships started going up again (blue plus signs).
