The only other possibility that comes to my mind is the observant reward. I'm unsure of how it works, but it should at least make these things easier.

I got it all figured out.  Also, I always buy the Observant reward with my first 5,000 points.

I do too, it speeds up finding (good not snobby  :D) friends and romances!

My Sims have purchased all of the rewards quite a while ago. They still have the same problem discovering the last couple of traits. I have begun to test the tip shared by Saltypaws. I will post back if it works in my game.

Well, cueing up "get to know" is great at the beginning, but, then when you get so many charisma points, then the interaction isn't there because you are friends right away.  I did find though, that when you meet someone and you do not get the "get to know" interaction, that you can still find out all of the traits, but you have to keep chatting, which seems like an eternity, but it can be done.  I have a couple of sims that no matter what I do, cannot get the last trait.  So that kind of blew my theory out of the water, lol.  Oh well, we will just keep trying, I do not think that we will ever figure out this game all of the way.

I believe that that relationship bonus never comes if you meet someone by ringing their doorbell and thus talking to them. Maybe that's a way not to be friends immediately?

As soon as you speak to whoever answered the door, it all kicks in.

But in the challenge you're trying to make friends with NPC's, and you can't ring their door bells.

I'm still nervous about starting this challenge.  I'm thinking there must be some sort of trick to learning all the traits that hasn't been discussed here because someone doesn't want to give up their secret for winning the challenge.  And I totally get it, but it seems like you have to know the "secret" in order to even get anywhere with this one.

Something to ponder...

We know that the Get to Know interaction is the way to find out traits.  We also know that this interaction only shows up when you have less than a Friend relationship status with the other Sim.  If you are automatically friends when you meet, is there a way to become less than a Friend?  Hmmm...

I know, I get it Pam.  I guess I just don't like it very much.  lol

Which I suppose is pretty funny coming from the chick who suggested a "make the most enemies" challenge.

Absolutely. The trick that I quickly discovered is Friendly Introduction - Throw an Insult or 2 at them (always good for a laugh), and then immediately cue up Get to Know a bunch of times.

Well, yeah, I know. I'm still kind of on the fence about the whole hush-hush aspect of strategy discussion in challenge threads. But, I'm more on the side of it should not be done right there, so there you go.

After thinking about it for a few minutes, I guess what bugs me about it is that it makes absolutely no sense that you should have to do it that way.  It's totally a game design flaw.  And I say that with all the love I have in my heart for this game. lol

It's indeed goofy. Probably would make more sense to have the Get to Know social vanish at Good Friends and not just Friend. I mean think about it—the core idea is actually sound. You don't ask really close friends basic stuff—Get to Know types questions. So, it makes sense that it does vanish. But, maybe a tad too early.
