Sim Texture all wrong
« on: March 02, 2012, 05:00:13 PM »
Hi all,

My sim's daughter's texture turned all wrong all of a sudden!

I tried resetSim, I tried cleaning the cache and nothing helps.

Any advice?

Thanks

Edit: I found a way, just used an old savegame. I lost some play time, but it's better than to have the girl look like that! I should have thought about it before posting, but if there's a way to solve it, please still let me know, just in case.

There was a CC item that used to do that to children.  You might want to make sure that you don't have a bad piece that could be causing this.

In addition to what Ricalynn said, read up on bad custom content here.

TL;DR - Download Delphy's Dashboard and let it check your game for bad/corrupted/incompatible custom content. Once it tells you which of your downloads is bad, delete them ASAP.

Wednesday's way is best but if you are on a Mac and can't do that, you can take the child to CAS and see what outfit is causing it.  It may help you to find it and delete it.

It could also be an outfit that has been wrongly ticked for a child and I am not sure if Delphy's Dashboard will pick that up.  CAS will help in this case as well.

What is TL;DR?

I believe it stands for 'too long; didn't read'.

Thanks, Figwit.  I don't see anything on this thread that's too long to bother reading.  And how can a person give a proper response without reading something?  I guess this is something from other parts of the internet that we just don't here.  (Wednesday21, please take note of this.)

I added the "TL;DR" (too long; didn't read) part to my post due to the length of the article I linked to. I tried to summarize its point for people who don't want to read the whole article itself. If that is not ok, I will not do that again.

Cheers.

Instead of using abbreviations that can easily be misunderstood as we just saw, if you'll just say exactly what you wish to communicate, I think that would be good.  What I mean is, you could say, "The article I linked to is long, so I'll summarize it's points here."  Less confusion that way, I think.  Thanks for understanding.  :)

Thank you all for your help. I solved the issue by taking the previous save, before the girl turned into a toddler, clearing my cache and removing all custom contents. I did not really use it anyway, they were just attached to Sims I had downloaded from the Exchange; and since I did not need extra households given that Union Cove is already well populated anyway, I might as well do away with them.

I guess that's a lesson learned and that I should always look twice when adding stuff from the Exchange, people are not always clear with the content they include in the download.

I guess some people at the Exchange just do not know that getting custom content packaged with a sim is such an annoying thing to happen and most of the time, it does not work properly.  It is always best, if you want to download sims, to get them as library files (packages) or as .sims and that way you don't get any cc with them.

I am glad you got it sorted anyway.  :)
