If a sims3pack contains a virus, will I have to get rid of the whole file?

Do you suspect a sims3pack file to have given your computer a virus?

If your anti-virus has come up with the message that the file contains something nasty, then I'd be inclined to get rid of it completely, rather than trying to clean things up.
What makes you think there is a virus in it?

It's possible I picked it up somewhere else, but I've only downloaded one sims3pack and nothing else but using the browser for months. I had a notification that 'bitcoin-miner.exe' had stopped working. I didn't like the look of the name of it, so I closed the window with task manager, but it did have a process running in the list of processes. When I googled it, it comes up with a whole list of things about it being a trojan. Neither Comodo nor Superantispyware have picked it up, so maybe it was just a pop-up, but I'll get my hubby to have a look at it to be sure. I'll be disappointed if it IS the sims3pack that it originated from There's no other reports on the website from where I got it, but that's not to say it's totally safe.

Bitcoins are a virtual currency. I don't really understand them myself.. google biitcoins.
I would hazard a guess that if you have something you shouldn't have and it is to do with bitcoins, then you probably picked it up browsing and not from the sims3pack

I've never heard of either of those anti-viruses. Go search for malware bytes and avg free. Those two will clean up your problem. They are legit and  free.

I use the Malwarebytes AntiMalware Free and it's GREAT.. I use it on all my downloads before they go into my game.. I run it regularly and it also runs in the background.

I totally recommend AVG, it's saved me lots of times. I also use Spybot Search&Destroy and it's really good too.

From memory, Comodo is made by the same company as AVG but it has some extra or something. My friend who is a computer tech hadn't heard of it either, but when he put both malware bytes and superantispyware on my computer, they hardly picked up anything - so it does a good job. I like Malware bytes as well as superantispyware, but I still had the setup for the second on my computer, so I used that one. I haven't found anything on a scan, but it is good to hear that it is probably from a webpage.

Install CCleaner on your computer and run that. That program is designed to wipe through your temp files and delete them. It might just be a file hanging on from a webpage like you said.

Ahh, so that will get rid of stuff I can't get rid of with a usual clean-up? EXCELLENT! I've had stuff hide in there before.

I don't know anything about that, but once my AVG scanner told me that Pets was a virus.  I asked a person I trust about it, was told it was more than likely a false positive, and since I completely trust this person, I hit ignore and haven't heard about it since.

I think it's because some of the files in sims have a dual extension (two full stops). I had a LOT of those errors in the past. I can't remember what virus scanner I was using. I did use AVG at one point, but I think that was before sims.
