I know next to nothing about games other than Sims 3.  Are these games you mentioned rated T for Teen?

No, and I'm not entirely sure that this fact invalidates the point I made with them.

I either..

-Kill Sims (not a Sadist)
-Make a female sim and marry a guy townie, then spew kids at a 5:5 ratio
-Build a huge mansion, fill tons of ugly townies inside and lock the doors, burn the house down..ya no the rest.
-Play with 7 YA-As and a teen. This is a popular file among me.
-Genetic Experiments
-Play premade households and make them take over the deteiorating town.

Basically the Sims is..flexible, I guess. There are many ways to sim and over billions of Sims to make.

I tend to have loud opinions. So sorry. I got tons of issues, lol. I can also be found on Yahoo! Answers.

I personally can't stomach watching sims die, unless it's of old age. I'm just weird like that. :P

Someone made a comparison to the Hunger Games earlier - I am a big fan of HG, but I never saw the appeal in it being the killing. Although the plot was really good, what really made me love the books was that they gave a message and that message was that humanity and people wanting peace, good compassionate people, can still shine through in the most horrendous of times. That's why my favourite character was Cinna.

But yea, I once had a sim die of hunger because I wanted to see what having the grim there was like, so I used cheats to turn his bar way low and I actually cried when I did it and felt reeally bad. How childish this sounds! :P

Actually I'm one of "those" people. I'm a sim killer. At least I was when I was playing Sims 2. It was just so much FUN to see how many different types of ghosts I could make on a lot and see what they do. Each different death had a different color and different behaviors. In Sims 2 there was a huge amount of ways for a person to hasten the end of a sim. I actually had to work to keep a sim alive. The first few times playing through I managed to accidently kill a pregnant sim because I just didn't know what I was doing. I was so worried about her hygiene and comfort that she starved to death in the bathtub!
In Sims 3 it isn't nearly as easy or fun to kill a sim. I don't know if it's something that EA has deliberately taken a step away from, but it is much much harder to "accidently" kill them. However the wierd thing I've noticed is that I get stray pets dying on my home lot quite frequently and for no reason. I have the gnomes up banning them and no relationship with them and they still love my lot!

It's okay.

My legacy founder had a hot spouse, and I didn't want him to be old so i had to kill him the day before his elder birthday. I hate elder sims, nor have I ever played one.  :o

No it's not that hard to kill sims (even without mods). I would switch households, then using a cheat put their hunger and energy bars to zero. Then after they died I'd switch back to my normal household. Simple.

@KirbyAndKat

I never tried the filling a mansion and burning it down. Sometime when I'm in a really bad mood I'll have to try that one.

@FezIsAFreakx

   Honestly most of the time I'm the same way. If I'm really attached to a Sim I get almost frantic if they are in a near death situation.  However for some reason I have no problem at all throwing Vita Alto in a pool or removing a door.

Are you sure the gnomes are holding up their 'no animals' signs? Because they can also hold up their 'please come in' signs and it can be hard to tell the difference lol.

I always feel guilty when killing off a sim, and besides experimenting a little with different deaths in my early playing, I usually only kill off a sim for the sake of a twist in the story (if I'm bored with the sim/family, I kill a sim to make it more interesting). I can't bring myself to kill more often than that, it just seems too much like real life.

My issue isn't that I'm a softie when it comes to my Sims (not that there's anything wrong with that)...it's just a lot of work to make a Sim in CAS just to kill them!  I have to have a really good reason for it, or I just don't see the point to it lol.

Seriously...if I have a need for ultra-violence (and it might sound very odd for a strict pacifist to say this, but I do have that need sometimes) I have other video games.  But sometimes movies are a better source.

I don't have the heart to kill my sims. I think my username explains it lol! I'm a real softy, can't even watch horror or war movies. So no hunger games for me ever. ::)

See, that's where the weirdness about me lies. I can read the Hunger Games fine, I can watch horror movies fine. But when it comes to killing sims? No. Like Hosfac, I also don't really see a point.

Interesting topic.

The famous story about the guy who had a Sim living homeless moved me to almost tears yet I have no qualms about killing off irritating members of my family....
Definitely trying Hosfac's idea though. Having such strict rules makes for an interesting game.

Fez, I'm with you.  The first dynasty spouse I ever lost made me cry.  Every pet death in the game breaks my heart.  I can't purposely kill my sims because my value system places a priority on harming no one.  Even though simmies aren't real, they act real and therefore my values don't distinguish between them and people or animals.

I brought up the comparison to The Hunger Games.  I haven't read the books yet, and I am sure there are positive messages in them or they wouldn't be so popular.  But at its heart the plot premise is teens having to kill or be killed (notwithstanding what I am sure are tons of subplots).  I'm in no way judging the books, I was simply making the point that our culture is filled with killing and death as entertainment (vampires, zombies, slasher movies, war-based video games) so that we shouldn't be surprised when people have no compunction about killing sims in all kinds of ways.

Oh no, I didn't mean that you were judging the books. It's just that I think that the killing theme in the books isn't what entertains the readers - the theme of the trilogy is very much anti-war. :) About the dynasty/legacy spouses, I didn't get the chance to watch my first legacy spouse die due to having to restart, but I know for a fact I would have cried! I had made the founder immortal through the age freeze potion just because I couldn't let go of her - she was the first sim I ever made. :P She's still immortal. ;D
