Just out of interest, are these high settings you're now playing on? Just, my new computer may run the game on a mix of medium/high and I was interested in the difference.

Yes, first thing I did was check the graphics and while with my old card everything was low, now everything is high!  I may turn them down some because I don't want to ruin my new card but I'm kinda enjoying the beauty!!

I've wanted a new graphics card for awhile now, but I need some clarification: Can I buy a new graphics card for a laptop? Or am I stuck with the one I have? (Sorry if this is a little off topic)

Edit: Also, do I need one made my apple? Right now my graphics card is an Intel GMA X3100.

If you have a Mac and a laptop, I would almost consider talking to an Apple technician, especially if you still have your Applecare warranty.  Only because when talking changing out graphics cards is always going to be infinitely easier on a Non Mac product than it will be for a Mac because of how they put their computers together.

I didn't know you could ruin a graphics card like that.

I don't know if it would or not, just nervous because I don't want to ruin it and I'm not 100% positive what ruined my last one other then not being made for a heavy graphic game like sims.

Hmm. I'm no expert, and I hope I'm wrong, but I think you can't replace that card. They are integrated chipsets so replacing them is complicated, if not impossible.... at least on a PC. I don't know anything about MACs though so maybe it's different with them.

Laptops are as you say above no matter who makes them.   Desktops - it's actually not that difficult to change out a PC graphics card if you know what you're doing.  However for Macs, they are no so easy and that's why I mention customer service.

Thank you again! I got a 1GB graphics card, it runs The Sims beautifully. I just bred some kittens, that actually look cute.

what is the graphics card called? i have the same problem you did and i need to know what the graphics card that you got is called
