Showtime vs Late Night
« on: February 26, 2012, 07:31:37 PM »
So I'm wondering which should I get...
Showtime or Late Night

Showtime has actual singing, Late Night has more instruments.
Showtime has magicians [unconfirmed], Late Night has Vampires.
Showtime has a limited edition Katy Perry version [I like her for her singing and her personality], Late Night has been out longer and is less expensive.

I've also heard some bad things about Late Night and the Paparazzi. I'm also none too crazy about the Celebrity System.

Help?

Welcome to the forum. We actually have a thread about Showtime already. Showtime is pretty different from LN. Showtime is more Vegas-like, and entertainment, while Bridgeport is more LA/New York, night around the down, clubbing and bars.

Both have in common with the Sims 2 Nightlife, with the downtown themes, but Showtime, is more entertainment. Late Night is about bar and clubbing.

Late Night would allow you to properly access more user-made content since most existing lots and worlds appear to require it. So if you're interested in content like Union Cove or the interesting-looking Sunset Valley remake that's also posted here, that would not be an insignificant point in its favor. Actually, that is the main reason why I'm tempted to get it as well, though like you I am concerned about vampires and stalkers, both of which I hate. Vampires you can at least get rid of, stalkers will apparently respawn indefinitely.

We don't really worry about spoiling here.  Our members and visitors come here looking for information.  If they don't want to know something, then they shouldn't read the topic.  The new creature in Showtime has already been revealed and discussed in the Showtime thread.

Vampires and celebrities are not that much of an annoyance to me.  Once you put that gate up, the paparazzi become a non-issue, really.

I think Jeana put it best:  Late Night just creates a night life scene for your Sims, while Showtime is more about becoming a performing artist of some kind.  The whole "celebrity" thing from Late Night is more about being a local celebrity in that scene.  A socialite.

It's not just local celebrity; because when you travel you get hounded by paparrazzi. For me, Late Night is more of whose in fashion at he moment and most popular. Stars can lose their charms. While I feel, Showtime (waiting to see), is an expansion of stardom. Giving more opportunities to show you are #1. So, to me Showtime is expanding the opportunities to become the most sought after celebrity.

There are socialites who are world famous for no other reason than they hang out and party at places that are local to them, but are world famous for being the "cool spot."  Paris Hilton was world famous before she ever had a television show.
