Pet Adoption Help

Hello there, NerdySwagg5399 here!

I recently got the Sims 3 Pets expansion pack and I was wondering if I created a pet and set it up for adoption, go to edit town and choose a different sim to play (still in that saved file) would my new household be able to adopt that pet?

I apologize if this post confuses someone and if it does, let me know so I can simplify it to get the answer.

If you're not opposed to edit town, you can always go into Edit Town then enter CAS and then just add that pet to whatever household you wish to have a pet.  Or you could split a household, taking a pet out of the family and merging it with someone else.

I have no experience with if the adoption option will work.  I do know these two options will work.  You can always try it and if it doesn't work exit without saving.

Just for the record, your original method of putting the pet up for adoption would probably work.  I've put a pet up for adoption and it started showing up as an available pet when my Sim checked the newspaper.
