Problem with Sims not aging
« on: February 21, 2012, 03:16:50 PM »
In my decadynasty game none of my Sims are aging. As far as I can tell none of the townsfolk are getting any older either.

I have cleared all the caches and done and factory reset, which I thought had fixed the problem because my Sims started aging again. Unfortunately this only solved the issue for one Sim day.

Any help or advice. I really don't want to have to give up on this game file.

Oh no!!!  I wish I had some advice, but I've never seen this before.  I'm sending you lots of good luck in hopes that someone else can help you figure out how to fix this.

Ratchie do you own the Goth Book of Spells and Generations? I know this sounds crazy, but there was an incompatibility between the two. I had to uninstall everything and reinstall one by one. I finally narrowed it down to the Book of Spells. When I had it installed no one aged.

No I do not have the Goth book of spells. I have this problem a few times since I got Generations and I have always ended up just giving up on the game file.

My Sims will age up for one day when I first load up the game. But it is going to be irritating to have to restart the game every single Sim day.

Ya can do what I did. Take out all store content and re-insert it. I've read this glitch usually is isolated with the premium content items. In a perfect world EA would update their store content to make sure it works in game.

I had to re-install all my store content when I did the factory reset.  I suppose I could try removing all my store content and seeing if that makes a difference. But I really really like all my pretty hair and clothes.

Edited to add I moved my family to Twinbrook and they are now aging. So it looks like it was just that file that was bugged. All of my previous save files of that particular game was bugged too.

I don't blame you. Is it just one town or all the towns you have?

I only have three saved games on my computer. My clones practice game,my bugged decadynasty file and my twinbrook file. Everyone one is aging up fine in the clones.

Did you uncheck the "aging" button in the settings tab?

Yes I did that. That was one of the first things I tried.

My experience with this bug was a very bizarre one. I had a save file from only a couple sim hours after one of my DecaDynasty heirs moved to the next house. The heir, Kerri, was not yet pregnant. The family aged fine until Kerri gave birth. This happened on three separate occasions, each time I went back to where Kerri had just moved--without having even woohoo'd. I also have done all of the things Rachel has done, but nothing worked. The game has since been deleted entirely, but I would also like to know if there is anything to do to prevent this or fix this in the event of encountering the glitch again.

The problem for me started after the new heir aged up to toddler.

Can you go back to before the heir is a toddler? Maybe you could try the shift+click cheat to age them up.

Did you install anything new or is there a patch recently issued? Maybe that could have caused it.

I'm not totally sure when this started, but this has apparently been going on for a bit now.  Typically it's just one or two Sims in town.  EA has yet to address the problem.
